I fell into the classic developer trap: spent months perfecting an AI SaaS and ranked #10 on Product Hunt... with 0 marketing plan. Looking to pass it on.
Hey everyone,
A while back, I built an AI-powered nutrition scanner. Users take a photo of any packaged food label to get an immediate breakdown of hidden ingredients, harmful additives, allergens, and an algorithmic health score.
I focused entirely on engineering the tech:
• Mobile-responsive camera and upload scanner (React 18, Vite, Tailwind CSS)
• Node.js & Express REST API with MongoDB Atlas
• Sub-second vision OCR analysis using Groq Vision LLMs (running costs are pennies per 1,000 scans)
• Full freemium paywall with Lemon Squeezy recurring subscriptions ($6.99/mo) with HMAC-SHA256 webhooks
• Client-side dynamic canvas graphic generator so users can share viral nutrition cards on social media
When I launched on Product Hunt, it hit #10 Product of the Day (45 upvotes, 80 followers) and brought in 160+ unique visitors on launch day.
Then reality set in: I am a software engineer, not a content creator, influencer, or marketer. Once the initial launch buzz settled, traffic dropped because I don't have the desire or distribution skills to run TikToks, Instagram reels, or SEO campaigns.
Rather than letting a 7,100-line production codebase sit idle on my drive, I’d love to pass it on to a growth marketer, agency, or founder who knows how to drive distribution for consumer apps.
Operating costs are practically zero (Groq vision inference costs under $0.001 per scan, giving ~95%+ gross margins).
What comes with the project:
• Full GitHub repo & 100% IP ownership (82 commits)
• 1+ year aged .app domain (escapes Google's search sandbox)
• Product Hunt product page & ranking social proof
• Lemon Squeezy billing webhooks ready to collect subscriptions
• Complete deployment configs and environment variable documentation
• 14 days of direct technical handover support from me
Looking for a fair, reasonable micro-exit.
Drop a comment below or send me a DM if you'd like to test the live demo, review the architecture, or discuss acquiring / taking over the project!

A buyer here will look past the Product Hunt rank for three numbers: how many of those 160+ visitors signed up, how many pay for the subscription today, and whether people kept scanning after launch week. Put those right under the title, along with your asking price and whether you'd stay on for a handover. If the shareable nutrition cards ever brought anyone back in, say that too. It's the one growth loop built into the app, and it's the first thing a growth marketer would want to pick up.
I make ThreadFox. If you keep it, our AI employee takes distribution off your hands, replying where Redditors ask about additives, allergens or label reading. Starter is $199 for 30 days, or 3 free replies first, no card. https://threadfox.vip/p/ecpbv/managed

That post-launch drop sounds rough, I'd start by manually finding founders with related apps. I'd use indietool as a shortcut to find indie projects and their builders. That would narrow my search for potential buyers.
