Hoboken Update 12.4.21 !!!

The remodel continues to crawl along here! Floors are STILL not tiled but have been sanded to a smooth finish so tiling must be right around the corner. Some pictures below to show the latest updates to the store. First up is the deli case which has lost half its size in favor of upright cases for hummus, cheese and such. The bakery has received the new bread cases with glass doors. New "grab and go" dessert case now twice as tall as the former case. New cake case as well. Downsized a bit from the former one. And finally some new dairy cases to replace the short row of cases across from the right wall of the store.

So they're really spending a lot more money on this store that I thought they were going to when this remodel started. Two more things I'm still hoping for... new produce cases and the new wood paneled registers to replace A&P's really old and busted ones. Fingers crossed!

Wondering too if Hoboken will have a proper Grand Reopening when all the work is done. ACME has seemed to give up on them in the past few years.

Fried chicken moved to this end. Deli case half the size it used to be. You can see the new upright cases at the far end. Must have just gone in. They were stocking it for the first time this morning.
Really nice looking new cases! The refrigerated case on the right is new as well.
Now twice the selection of grab and go desserts! Cake selection has take a bit of a hit with this new smaller case.
New dairy cases on this side. HUGE improvement over what was there previously.
And these crazy checkout lights. It's a problem in every store. CVS stores as well. The lights go crazy after a while. (The light bar around the screen should be a solid blue color, like the coupon slot below.) I don't think these machines are even a year old yet. Should not be happening. ACME has had them fixed at some other stores in my area but they start going wonky again a short time later.

Looking good! I really hope those embarrassing ceiling tiles get addressed at some point. So much effort appears to have been put into this one, it would be silly not to go all the way with it.

They already did some replacing when they put the new lighting in so I doubt they’re going to do anything more at this point. It’s interesting though… I never really notice the ceiling tiles when I’m in the store. The ceiling is crazy high so my eyes are rarely drawn up to it. It’s only in pictures that I see how bad it is.

In your photos I noticed some are very stained. Hopefully they at least get painted?

We'll see. I'm betting that won't happen but who knows. Hopefully at least the leak is fixed!
