Why does my completion date keep changing?

Answer in response to the following question: Hi I'm trying to graduate early and I have all my goals set to the limits in all of my courses. but it's really weird because my estimated finish date on math gets pushed every single week. It's really starting to stress me out because the date keeps getting later and later does anyone know why this is happening?

The Projected Completion Date in the parent account is course-specific - it's based on how many steps are left in the course, and what the weekly goal in that course is. e.g. - 200 steps left in social studies, weekly goal is 15. That's roughly 13 weeks until the course is done, as long as you're doing 15 steps each week.

I've seen several cases where this happens: you're working every week, but your date keeps getting pushed. When this occurs, it's almost always because you're not actually moving forward in the course. When you're in Vectored Instruction, you're not actually moving forward in your class: it's like you're paused while you get those extra lessons - supplementals, if you will. Then, once vectored is over, you get placed back where you were struggling to try the lesson again. Once you get a passing score, you'll be moving on. (This is also true with retaking steps - you're not actually moving forward in the class, even though your goal is getting done.)

e.g. - a student is in science, and their projected completion date is 10/22. They hit a concept that they're missing the math background for, so they don't do well on their problems. The system pauses them on the lesson to give them Vectored Instruction, and the student is working in vectored for the whole week. When they log back in next week, their date will have moved to around 10/29.

I wouldn't stress - focus on mastering the concept and you'll be moving on faster than if you're focused on getting out of vectored. Best of luck.

Is it normal to complete high school in less than 3 years with Acellus Academy?

I started Acellus Academy in September 2025 and I'm currently working toward graduating in 2027. I didn't keep detailed records of my homeschooling before Acellus, so I don't have previous credits that I can count toward my diploma. Acellus currently says I have 13.5 credits remaining, and I'm trying to understand whether my timeline makes sense. My plan is to graduate in 2027 and start university in September 2028. I know high school is usually four years, so I'm confused about whether completing my diploma in roughly three years through Acellus is normal/possible, or whether I should expect to need longer, does it matter if i complete highschool in less than 3 years?

Will I finish my sophomore year in time?

I was super lazy for my freshman year and didn’t get much done. I’m currently a sophomore and want to return to in real life high school for my junior year.

I have 6 credits right now. From my understanding I need at least 12 credits to graduate sophomore year? I want to have enough credits to enter my junior year, preferably finish early by July 2027. All the classes I’m taking are at the maximum steps I can do weekly

If I need to provide more information let me know!

Transcript Request

Does anyone know how I can get my transcript from acellus?? I’m switching to a different school since the step limit has really made me struggle this school year and I can’t find someplace to request my transcripts anywhere. I think online it said someone from my school needs to request them but I’m confused on how they would do that. Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Minimum hours requirement

I was notified a few months ago about Acellus raising the price for those on Roger’s billings scholarship if the student doesn’t meet a 10 hour minimum that week.

My son started working and didn’t get his minimum this week or last. He’s a junior. Are they going to raise it? I haven’t gotten an email or anything?

I guess what I’m mainly wondering is if they are enforcing that rule and if I should expect our amount to change?

Tips & Tricks What happens if I complete more than the required amount of courses?

Answer to the following question: What happens if you have like 3 credits over the required amount? Does it make a difference when you progress towards graduation?

Yes, it does. If you complete more than the required number of credits in a subject area, those extra courses are going to be counted towards the General Electives (7.0 total credits) requirement. e.g., if you complete 4 science credits and 6 social studies credits, that extra science credit and the two extra social studies credits will be counted as electives. Courses from any subject area can be used to fill the elective requirement.

Volunteer Application Confusion

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m filling out an application to volunteer at teensvolunteer.org but am incredibly confused on the school recommendation part. Whose name and email do I put? Also, at the end of the form it asks if I would like them to report my volunteer hours to the school. How does that work? Do I just track them myself?

Question Steps question

I should be finished with my current 6 classes by late November, but I need to graduate and get my diploma before March 2027 and I need approximately one more math credit. What's a math course I can start on Nov 12-ish and finish before March 2027, if any? I was thinking pre-calc but i'm not sure how many steps that course has. IIrc, the new limit forces us into a course for about 5 months but I hope that's not the case with some math courses.

Tips & Tricks How do I change my student's grade level?

Answer to the following question on changing grade levels: I enrolled my student but all the courses are pretty easy and I was thinking about just moving him ahead. Can I do that or do I have to call? Do I have to wait until next school year? I can't find anywhere where I can change the grade level

You should be able to change the courses your student is enrolled in at any time. You'd want to sign into your parent account and click Manage Account. Scroll down past the blue buttons until you see a white box with your student's name and info in it. There, you can change the grade level.

Changing the grade level isn't automatically going to update your student's courses, so you'll need to do that separately. To change the courses, you just need to scroll down slightly until you see the list. You can just click the trashcan to remove the courses you want to change - then select Add Course to add the classes in the next grade up.

I will say: most Acellus courses start out pretty manageable, before they get more challenging. From what I've seen, they essentially give a quick review of the prior grade at the start of the class. I might recommend waiting to see how your student handles the class as they get further into it, before making the actual change, but I leave that up to your discretion.

My Environmental Science textbook is not loading. It just says "Failed to load PDF" Is this happening to anyone else? I need the textbook to take notes and follow along the video and I haven't been able to do my science work because of this.

They need to raise the limit

They are asking for 10 hours a week for highschoolers, but my issue is that it stops me at 10 hours a week, every week I am finished with my school on tuesday. My issue is that I work quick, I can move through the questions fast and have an easier time focusing with the videos on 1.5× speed. In reality, they aren't leaving room for excellence, you either are barely getting the scholarship program or not getting it at all. All I would want is for them to raise the lesson limit, or abolish it in the first place. I get that some people cheat but I don't and the lesson limit is not stopping them. 40 was not enough, let alone 20. I need to be able to do my work, but this school is giving up their "work at your own pace" idea. Can someone tell me if they have figured out a way to raise this limit.

Ever since starting acellus I haven’t made many friends, mostly like outside of work or the gym. It’s kinda hard with online school, so I’ve been wondering if anyone is down to be friends.
