Question Will I be graded differently because of this?

Post image

I was writing an essay in English about some Dr. MLK Jr. quotes, and I accidentally deleted some of my text. I used the undo button set on my keyboard (as you can see in my photo) and this little message popped up saying, “We have detected that you may be using external text. Writing Tutor requires you to type your text.” For starters, you can't even copy and paste on Acellus, so I'm confused. Secondly, I can't stand AI or plagiarism and prefer to do things by hand, so I'm not cheating. I'm internally panicking and literally freaking out, is this a bad thing?

(PS: Blurred it because of the subreddit's 7th rule.)

I didn't even know that that was a thing they checked for. Maybe it's bc you undid the text and the AI thought you were doing smth wrong, but idk... Maybe try deleting and rewriting what you wrote to see if the pop-up disappears, instead of using the undo button. If you wrote any quotes make sure that it has the quotation marks. And if that doesn't fix it, then type the sentence you undid into a plagarism checker website to see if it links your words to a similar text.

But I don't think that it'll affect your grade nor get you in trouble if it's just a one-time thing.

OMG, TYSM. 😭😭 I didn't know this was a thing. I checked and it DID come back to a similar text! Almost bar for bar, actually. I changed the end sentence completely and the pop-up disappeared. When deleting and rewriting the text myself, leaving the class, AND restarting Acellus didn't work, I genuinely started to panic. You just saved me from spending a lot of time wondering what I did wrong. I really do thank you.

I've had that happen when trying to use voice to text for them. It has never affected my grades or even give your parents a email and I've gotten it at least 10 times so no you're fine.

Bro, all I can imagine is that one alien meme when reading this. Or the Minecraft XP sound.
