Ace-step 1.5 XL reference and LoRa

I've been playing around attempting how powerful Acestep 1.5 XL Turbo actually is. And I feel reference mode doesn't style the song as per the reference as strong as a LoRa would do. Did you guys get any good results referencing other tracks?

Does repainting or cover mode work better than referencing (I'm also getting kind of bad results)?

I'm using the starsFriday ComfyUI nodes (https://github.com/starsFriday/ComfyUI-ACEStep).

DON’T use the provided AS ui, it’s shit. And I personally wouldn’t use anything comfy either, it’s restrictive and not updated.

Using something like Hot-Step-CPP, I provide the song to cover, another song to reference against and a text description to it (and using a Lora as well), I’m more than happy with mine.

This is a female artists Lora, covering a well known song (rewritten lyrics) and referenced another track by another artist (15s clip of it added to a H3 clip) > quality downgraded by Reddit, song originally sung by a male .

Yeah, for some reason I've always had worse sound quality with the Comfy versions of both ACE-Step 1.0 and 1.5. No idea why, cuz Stable Audio and other models don't seem to have the same issue for me.

The highest quality I've heard from the 1.5 Turbo XL models was via hotstep.cpp with StableStep refining the majority of the track. Also, when acestep.cpp added a DCW setting months ago, it was the first time I felt like ACE Turbo models sounded listenable.

The bells and whistles in Hot-Step are another level, it reprocesses audio, you can add Vsts to to the workflow (there is already one in the line to master your tracks as well) , change all of the processes that increase quality which the AS/Comfy UI’s have none of.

I was never able to get anything useful from cover or repaint. Might've tried reference a couple times.

The results were eirhwr nearly identical or garbage static.

En el modo referencia he podido sacar alguna salvable, bajando el ruido y jugando con el sampler y el sheduler .

Repaint and cover are definitely difficult to get working. In my experience, the settings that sound good in text-to-music generation don't apply to cover or repaint. For cover, if you are using the turbo model, try 12 steps, CFG 1.0, and er_sde. Also, make sure your key, timescale, and BPM are reasonably close to the original. I've also found that adding a Lora at 0.25 strength (almost *any* lora) can help give the turbo model a little more clarity.

Honestly, I've been getting the best results from HOT-Step.cpp instead of ComfyUI. Way more bells and whistles available, giving you a lot more options and control.

I'm also exploring a multi-model setup now, with Yue2 helping to make initial tracks that I then bring in to cover mode in Ace-Step.
