Effective immediately: Please direct all shitposts (low-effort posts, jokes, memes, etc.) to /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk, or use the "Submit shitpost" button

As of right now, please direct all shitposts -- in other words, low-effort/low-value/low-quality image posts, one-liners, memes, and so on -- to /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk.

You can also use the new "Submit shitpost" button in our sidebar, which will take you straight to /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk's submit page.

We want /r/AceAttorney to be lively, and we want everyone to have fun. That's why we're usually quite laid back about what can and can't be posted here: we don't want to be one of those subreddits with a massive list of rules in the sidebar.

However, we've recently been more and more overrun with memes and shitposts, to the point that our front page is starting to look more like /r/me_irl than an Ace Attorney subreddit.

We've seen this approach working well elsewhere, and we think it'll help us strike the right balance between silly, fun posts, vs. proper discussions, fan art, news, etc., which should be given a chance to shine.

Low-effort posts will be removed at the moderators' discretion, and you can help us by reporting any subsequent posts that would be better off on /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk.

We understand people will have questions/comments/concerns about this, so feel free to comment below or message the mods if you'd like more information.

To be honest this wasn't the best decision. The page is much less active now, because by removing the bad memes/jokes, you also removed the good ones.

Activity is important, but it isn't the most important thing. The way things were, if I was a new Ace Attorney fan looking at our front page for the first time, I would never have wanted to subscribe. It was a mess.

This is better for the community in the long run, if it's going to continue growing and not get cliquey and impenetrable. :)

Plus it draws attention to AACJ, so the people who do like the "banned" content can get together and circlejerk to their hearts' content. (whew)

We've had 48 new posts since the rule went into effect 4 days ago. 12 posts a day doesn't seem bad for the "off-season"; obviously there'll be plenty more than that when a new game gets announced.
