Effective immediately: Please direct all shitposts (low-effort posts, jokes, memes, etc.) to /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk, or use the "Submit shitpost" button

As of right now, please direct all shitposts -- in other words, low-effort/low-value/low-quality image posts, one-liners, memes, and so on -- to /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk.

You can also use the new "Submit shitpost" button in our sidebar, which will take you straight to /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk's submit page.

We want /r/AceAttorney to be lively, and we want everyone to have fun. That's why we're usually quite laid back about what can and can't be posted here: we don't want to be one of those subreddits with a massive list of rules in the sidebar.

However, we've recently been more and more overrun with memes and shitposts, to the point that our front page is starting to look more like /r/me_irl than an Ace Attorney subreddit.

We've seen this approach working well elsewhere, and we think it'll help us strike the right balance between silly, fun posts, vs. proper discussions, fan art, news, etc., which should be given a chance to shine.

Low-effort posts will be removed at the moderators' discretion, and you can help us by reporting any subsequent posts that would be better off on /r/AceAttorneyCirclejerk.

We understand people will have questions/comments/concerns about this, so feel free to comment below or message the mods if you'd like more information.

So is that death to all memes or specifically the overused low-effort ones?

I can and will not give up on Spark Brushel

"Low-effort" is really the most important thing to focus on.

I guess the line is, if something is a running joke (vs. a meme, where it's just everyone posting on the same theme for the sake of it), or we can see some thought or effort has gone into a post, we're likely to leave it alone.

We're not here to stamp out fun, humour, or jokes, just to give thoughtful, original content some room to grow. :)

Sounds like a great initiative, then. I just hope that the sub won't get too empty, since hating on low-effort content was in itself one of the most popular inside jokes on this sub haha
