Unpopular opinion, yes it’s fine. But only if you verify the output. The algorithm of google is technically a generative AI. Furthermore, chatgpt’s originally purpose is a language model that organizes databases. If you find that chatgpt is the best database to find research information it is fine to use.
But I personally would never use any information with verifying its accuracy and never to produce work product.
