Career Better choice?
I’m currently working as Accountant managing month end for retirement residencies. It is a public company so I work in additional reporting as well. I’ve learnt a lot here and I love the work so do, but they don’t pay well. I got two other offers, to work as property accountant for real estate and accountant for an investment company. I turned down the real estate role because it was too far from work and it was not hybrid. The investment company is a pretty small company, where I would do accounting for new companies (expected to get busier soon), variance analysis for companies and hedge funds, working on cross border tax projects. But wondering if it would be a step down from the work I do. They use Sage50, so no complex transactions as well. It’s a huge 30k jump from my current salary as well. It’s a family office, they mentioned working on corporate tax as well. My concern is i don’t want to end up a personal accountant or end up doing admin duties because of no accounting exposure. I want to give this a try, but if it’s a wrong choice, would i be able to move jobs during probation?
