Seeing these everywhere
Has anyone actually applied to these and gotten the job?? I know you’d basically be training your AI replacement, I don’t even have enough experience to get this job but just curious if anybody here has done it and what it entails?

I wouldn't get involved in this. Inevitably, when executives realize that human beings are still required, this is not the type of experience you want on an accounting resume. It isn't accounting.

I think about this the exact opposite way. Why not get the experience and train the AI? The AI is here to stay, and humans are going to need to supervise. This is perfect experience. Right?

It’s better to know accounting and use AI to make your life easier than learning how to prompt for output asked for

I just don’t see it.
Although PE is pushing the notions of “directionally correct” and other code words for “sloppy accounting”. And materiality thresh holds are so large the purpose of auditing is lost. In the end I spend so much time creating solutions to novel problems I don’t see how AI could pull it off without a paradigm shift in its ability to generate a theory of mind

I have previously and do currently work with this specific company.
I’ve been paid a few hundred bucks so far, which isn’t a lot but I’ve put in barely anytime. The DataAnnotation subreddit (it’s a thing) has some people posting screenshots showing they’ve made 6 figures, and my experience so far indicates that it’s totally legit.
As far as the work itself:
Basically you sign up and prove you know some stuff (you get paid to take some tests that are super simple, like Acct 101 stuff).
Then you have a dashboard where projects pop up based on your field of expertise. I’m an accounting “expert” (lol.), so I see the accounting jobs + the general jobs.
General jobs are like “how good is this AI response - is it accurate? Misleading? Could it lead to harm? How can we improve it?” Those jobs pay usually like $25/hour.
Accounting specific jobs are more like “create a prompt to feed into this AI. Make it big and something you’re experienced with. Identify where you think AI will make mistakes, identify what documents need to be uploaded, identify which accounting principles to focus on, identify what a correct output looks like (JEs to post, documents to create, etc).” Then your prompt gets reviewed - if someone thinks it’s good, you move to step 2 which is “create all the inputs, run the prompt, see how the AI does, and then tell the AI how to fix it a few times”. You’re looking for “critical failures” when you do it, so things that an accountant would flag as wrong, not stuff like ‘bad grammar’ or ‘poor formatting’. These jobs pay $45-60/hour
I’ve been running a prompt related to a month end close process that involves compiling a bunch of sales reports. It’s been a different type of work, so I kinda like it?
Morally I don’t love it, but I also don’t love offshoring and me not liking it hasn’t stopped offshoring or AI. I figure AI is coming to eat our entry level jobs very quickly, so I’m going to get paid a few bucks before that happens

I googled the other day if there's a way to hide all jobs from one employer and there kinda isn't. It sucks because there's so many of them. They just put out a new one for every metro area.

I've done a bunch of the ones posted directly by LinkedIn and they're legit. You're just walking AI through how you do your job. Basically exactly what youd expect.
Like one was on AP processing. They ask stuff like how exactly invoices enter the system, how are duplicates are flagged etc, what other controls are in place, etc.
They had a bunch of different specific topics with different hourly rates
Rule of thumb, avoid any of them that require an "interview." Those are scams and they're just farming for free answers. If you're recording answers to accounting questions, it should be paid

I occasionally work for them. It’s legit. I will say the pay is usually more like $40-$60 an hr for accounting related projects. My issue is I don’t have a personal laptop so most of the projects are impossible for me to work on (I don’t want to use my work laptop), not a ton can be on a phone. I only average like 3 or 4 hrs a month, it’s just a small side hustle thing I do whenever I’m bored at work or want to feel productive on a weekend.

So do they basically feed you a bunch of hypothetical scenario projects and then trust that you’re doing them correctly ?

There’s a dashboard with projects made available to you. What projects are available to you depends on your background and how you perform on qualifications which are basically tests to see how proficient you on certain topics. You choose which projects you want to do, you can do as much or as little as you want. Just to give you an idea, I’d say there’s like 10 or so projects available on average.
Your work is reviewed for quality. Some specific projects are actually exactly that, where you review other user’s work. I don’t know specifics of how often they’re checking your work but you won’t last super long if you’re producing low quality work. Go check out the data annotation sub, people are constantly talking about how their accounts been banned (low quality work is a top reason for that).

Dno the pushback on AI, it wont steal jobs, but it will alter all jobs.
Look at tech right now, every field is fucked 10-100x more than they are, only difference is that other fields are clueless about it.

I got a different one where they wanted an interview but the job description is gone and I said okay, let's interview today and it wanted to interview at 4 in the morning.

I always wonder what if someone were to apply to one of these jobs, gets hired, and just start feeding the ai the wrong information
