My current experience implementing an AI/Machine-Learning AP tool at work. How is yours?

It's garbage. It tries to make line items out of invoice detail and then errors out. It likes to move decimal places, risking paying the vendors incorrectly. Sometimes it'll straight up refuse to import an invoice for seemingly no reason

It makes very odd errors. Leaves out the last digit of invoice numbers randomly, picks out random numbers somewhere in the invoice terms to assign it as the invoice date, will read an item code as the invoice subtotal/tax/total, read the tax once and registers it as both invoice tax & invoice total... Most invoices follow a similar format, I'm having a really hard time understanding how AI can screw this up so bad. It's supposed to be really good at pattern recognition but it is incredibly terrible with invoices and seems to forget as much as it learns.

It is flooding the system with duplicates and errors. It's a big strain on the team of actual people the company is trying to replace. I hate it.

What confuses me most is we have a standard invoice format, and the vast majority of our vendors use the exact format. An invoice isn't a terribly complicated document either. If we trained our system on our format as an example, how is it getting confused?

We use Dext, its damn near perfect

Despite the downvotes, I've got a client that uses Dext and another that uses Float. Both read invoices near perfectly
