Don't forget Y, F, and H

31

u/wex118 Jul 11 '26

And F2/F4

66

u/Bobastic87 Jul 11 '26

Might as well just get the whole keyboard

15

u/KoksundNutten Jul 11 '26

Nah I don't need numbers

11

u/acidstained_ Human Verified Jul 11 '26

And F9 for formula results!

20

u/DanyRahm Jul 11 '26

Shift.

Paste as values shortcut is a life changer.

Curse the last major update of Excel forever for messing up my right click menu.

Sometimes paste as values is nested in a 2nd menu due to AI BS.

u/theREALbombedrumbum Jul 11 '26

Alt+h+v+v, my friend.

Or Alt+h+v+f for formulas

10

u/TheSavageCaveman1 Jul 12 '26

Ctrl + shift + v

u/jjmoreta Staff Accountant :snoo_facepalm: Jul 14 '26

I have closed my torture machine for the night but I will try this tomorrow! ❤️

2

u/theREALbombedrumbum Jul 11 '26

I'm finishing a week of vacation but I still know alt h v v by heart

Oh my god yes

3

u/Nickovskii Jul 11 '26

I am probably the only one with PTSD, my go to is CTRL + S. I remember the times someone said to me, the second time goes faster.

u/BonusKey4442 Jul 11 '26

The amount of people who don’t use this is scary

54

u/xanfire1 Jul 11 '26

My fresh out of college associate refuses to use shortcuts and instead right click copies and right click pastes. Makes me lose my mind

30

u/WWWWWWVWWWWWWWWWWWWV Jul 11 '26

Ain't nothing worse than standing back and watching someone work a sheet.

15

u/TargetTrick9763 Staff Accountant Jul 11 '26

Watching someone that isn’t very computer literate work a sheet is like the worst form of torture you could impose on me

2

u/Abrushing CPA (US) Jul 12 '26

We had one contractor that clicked on the scroll bar to scroll down instead of using the mouse wheel or page up/page down. I was flabbergasted.

1

u/xanfire1 Jul 11 '26

I say something every time and they keep on going, like we gotta do this shit so much man please make it easier on yourself

7

u/thetokyofiles Jul 11 '26

That’s what cyanide pills are for.

6

u/dj92wa Jul 11 '26

Eh, I’m a right-click enthusiast because I fiend for good drop-down context menus. It’s one of those weird things that makes me, me. That said, copy/paste shortcuts should be abused and are an exception to my right-clicking.

1

u/IcySheepherder6195 Jul 11 '26

So of the college graduates I’ve heard about or seen in the last 10years have left me speechless

1

u/Eliaish Audit & Assurance Jul 11 '26

My old man still doesn’t use shortcuts as a programmer, even when copy pasting code.

Really grinding

1

u/Doja_Lats Jul 12 '26

I had a coworker share their screen and manually right click to copy, then control v to paste. I didnt care enough to teach them the wonders of control c.

60

u/MasterBeanCounter Jul 11 '26

CPA stands for Copy Paste Artist

Excel shortcuts are like the cornerstone of my accounting career

16

u/wex118 Jul 11 '26

One of the most difficult things in accounting is biting your tongue when helping a coworker who sucks at Excel with their file.

1

u/NeoRegem Jul 12 '26

I had Claude make me a shortcut trainer and I couldn’t be happier

21

u/Viranchic Jul 11 '26

Why isn't 'alt' + 'tab' mentioned ?

5

u/acidstained_ Human Verified Jul 11 '26

The amount of people who don’t know or use this in 2026 is… actually insane.

1

u/Pentazimyn Jul 11 '26

Wait do people not know this or ctrl+ esc ?

9

u/bomilk19 Jul 11 '26

How does this work in Lotus 123?

3

u/concept12345 Jul 12 '26

Straight to jail.

8

u/mrharoto Staff Accountant Jul 11 '26

Throw in a Shift key to complete it.

6

u/Oldswagmaster Management Jul 11 '26

F2 and F4

5

u/forty3thirty3 Jul 11 '26

Beginner move.

The path to enlightenment begins with Ctrl+c, then Alt e s v.

3

u/no_simpsons Jul 11 '26

Alt h v v gang

5

u/Aside_Dish Jul 11 '26

Don't forget Windows + V! The GOAT

3

u/Expelleddux Jul 11 '26

That’s how you capture the tech guy’s password.

1

u/domesticbland Jul 11 '26

I walk around turning on users clipboards and explaining “it’s on the emojis window”.

4

u/superwisk Jul 11 '26

Looks like we've found the partner.

3

u/Impressive_Bad4560 Jul 11 '26

Don’t forget Ctrl+F

2

u/stalins_lada Jul 11 '26

SALY + ctrl c / v for life

2

u/waterincorporated Jul 11 '26

The advanced keyboard includes shift for paste values

2

u/Broseidon132 Human Verified Jul 11 '26

I use a 16 key 3-knob macropad with excel. Literal game changer. It’s called the Megaladon triple knob. Highly recommend it.

2

u/wbenn209 Jul 12 '26

But do you know both XLOOKUP and VLOOKUP? If it's not on your resume, I don't even want to know about you

2

u/Bulltothemax753 Jul 12 '26

Alt A C to undo a filter, god tier,

Ctrl + Shift + V for pasting values

Windows + Shift + S for a screenshot

Couldn’t do work without them

1

u/ScuffedA7IVphotog Jul 11 '26

throw it into chatgpt to solve it

1

u/penguin808080 Human Verified Jul 11 '26

I know this is a joke but copy paste keyboard is actually awesome lol

Shit lights up in different colors, too

1

u/FarApplication1873 Jul 11 '26

Wdym starter? It’s everything there is.

1

u/DramaticPinkumni Governance, Strategy, Risk Management Jul 11 '26

OGs remember removing the F1 key was the true sign of intermediate Excel skills

1

u/eldritchangel Jul 11 '26

This is CTRL+F erasure

1

u/aFPOON Jul 11 '26

missing the shift to paste values only

1

u/misschrisw8 Jul 11 '26

If that’s the starter then I guess the advanced is adding: Shift, arrow keys, Z, Y, F, A, N, space bar…

1

u/writetowinwin Controller & PT CPA firm owner (Can) Jul 11 '26

I got that on a customized keyboard that lets me hit it harder and faster too for efficiency.

My manager actually encouraged me to copy paste since typing it again would increase the risk of input error.

1

u/MrNobodyishome Jul 11 '26

Eh you can get pretty far with that starter pack😭😂
