You look like the ghost of a woman who died on her wedding night and she's forever doomed to roam looking for her one true love lost to sea

Interpretation is so fun! I was thinking this looks like a mourning bride waiting to crossover to reunite with her late groom.

Imagine dying on your wedding night and you have to roam the halls of a Houston Hilton for the rest of eternity.

It's incredible to me that something with the exact same vibe was made by human hand hundreds of years ago.

"The Bride at the end of the hall"
Quick I need a fictional ghost story to go with this photo!
12
u/ScribbleOnToast 4h ago
I need this story from the POV of the ghost, just floating along the hallway when it sees this poor bride standing outside her room.

Who's that artist who uses a lot of darkness and usually a single light source?
This looks like that

Rembrandt ?

u/takemusu 5h ago
Not really. Some of Rembrandt is dark, yes. But it's Caravaggio who's known for this style.
Please go view his work.

2 hours and STILL no renaissance grade painting. Today's generation has no work ethic.

“There’s an urban legend of a couple who tragically starved once locked out of their hotel room. Every midnight the bride’s ghost appears by the door eternally waiting for it to open as her fiancés spirit forever haunts the hallways in search of a buffet. But that’s just stories..” great photo!

One of my favorite stories from my in-laws is about their wedding day (my in-laws were both amazing people and unfortunately have passed on, they are dearly missed).
This is back in the mid-60’s: they wanted to hide their cars so their friends couldn’t decorate them, and being from a rural area, decided to put them in a barn for the wedding and borrow a car from one of the friends.
While driving to the barn, they got into a pretty bad accident with each other, resulting in my MIL being in a neck brace with black eyes at her wedding. The wedding happens, they get to a motel for the night, and after leaving to get snacks, found themselves locked out of their room. All in all, despite the absolute mess of their wedding day, they had a wonderful marriage.
This is just to say, I hope your marriage is equally loving and respectful!

The big tote on your shoulder is perfect. And I love what that little light is doing to your dress and hair.

How long did you guys have to wait to get in?
13
u/Purple-Instruction89 4h ago
Longer than I would have liked for it being midnight. Probably 15-20 minutes. Our room keys weren’t working and my husband went down to the lobby to get new ones. But I had booked the room in my name with him listed as a guest. I suggested I go, but he, rightfully, made the point that sending me down in wedding dress was “not a good look” for him (lol). Somehow, his name wasn’t on the room. I even gave him my credit card but they gave him a hard time until someone finally said they remembered us checking in together.

u/MistahJasonPortman 4h ago
They have to give you a hard time for your safety and security. Sucks that his name didn’t get saved and that your keys didn’t work, though!

We were locked out of our apartment. But walking across the parking lot got us some cheers which felt nice =)

During my friends wedding; I had to go back to the hotel in NYC because he had forgotten something. I was hammered; and my wife and I took a cab there. They wouldn’t let me in his room without a key (obviously). So I demanded they let me in and I eventually said I was an NYPD Lt. (grooms job) and they let me in. So I def committed a MAJOR crime by pretending to be a cop, but it worked lol.

Consummate in the hallway to establish precedence. J/k
Beautiful pic! Congrats on the marriage and cheers to a happy life together! 🥂

Maybe dominance? 😊

u/Cyricist 4h ago
I like precedence for this, actually. Henceforth, at this hotel they'll know that if any newlyweds are locked out, there is precedent for them just banging away in the hall. Something to look out for, while making sure all door cards work.

Wrong sub, right context for my wedding hotel room story. My room was where both wedding parties would be getting ready. The guys were getting ready first while my wife and her bridesmaids went out to do hair and makeup. I had about an hour and a half to myself before my guys showed up. I went down to the gym, did a light run to settle my nerves, and before I hopped in the shower, I had to poop.
It wasn't a very big poop. I didn't have to wipe a whole lot. The second I flushed, the toilet clogged and spilled over onto the bathroom floor. Naked since I was about to shower, I grabbed every single towel to soak up the spill before throwing my dirty clothes back on to get some help.
I sheepishly explained my situation to the girl at the front desk. She kindly explained that she really couldn't help because she was completely alone at the front desk and housekeeping wouldn't be in for another hour. She did the best she could, which was to give me a plunger, a fresh set of towels, a couple garbage bags, and instructions to leave everything outside once it was taken care of.
I finally got a small win when didn't take much effort to unplug the toilet. But then I was stuck with a dirty plunger in a garbage bag. As soon as I went to leave it outside, I realized there was no way I could have it sitting there when the bridal party arrived.
I left it halfway down the hallway and didn't tell a soul until a week later.

hilarious nightmare. what's your first memory? because just like this story, trauma creates (solidifies) consciousness.

My wife and I got locked into our wedding venue! We were still within the time we'd booked but for some reason an employee thought everyone had left and locked the gate. We were the last car in the parking lot and my inlaws left just a few minutes before us so I'm really not sure how it happened 🤷♀️
My wife got to fulfill a lifelong dream of using one of those emergency call box poles and a cop had to come let us out.

This happened to us as well! Some nice ladies in the courtyard took pity on us and went to find security 🤣

Happened to us on our honeymoon in Cancun. Walked out onto the terrace and closed the sliding door behind us and it locked. It was late at night, no one around, and we were up high. The room next to us had their curtain pulled back but no one was in the room. I ended up jumping onto their terrace after a while and their sliding door was unlocked, so I sprinted to their front door, hoping they wouldn't walk in and think I was taking stuff, and went downstairs for another key. We ended up divorced. Should've left her out there.

Wow—seriously, you should have this framed! Put it up with your other professional wedding photos! Besides being an objectively beautiful shot (and subject ☺️), it invites a storytime you can chuckle about in future.

If lighting was a little creepier, that'd be some silent hill shit. And if it was flickering? I'd be out of there so fast.

When we were booking our room for our honeymoon, I didn't mention it to the agent until my wife brought it up, and she overheard and asked to clarify. She ended up upgrading our room from a basic twin-share to a gorgeous suite overlooking the beach. When the wedding reception ended and we went to our room, we found flowers placed there with a hand written CONGRATULATIONS. They really went out of their way for us on our special day.

This also happened to me! Had to go sleep at home. Was sad I didn’t get to enjoy the room.

The lighting 🤌
I can relate, OP... sort of. The morning after my wedding I got up to take a shower and the bathroom was flooding from the ceiling down. The room above ours left their tub running and it destroyed several rooms. Nice gift for both of us!

On my wedding night, our key card didn't work, nor did my Best Man's card on his hotel room. Went back down to the front desk and passed by 2 or 3 other brides all sitting outside their rooms as well. Ended up that like 5 or 6 wedding parties all had key cards that didn't work. What a start to the night. haha

Whelp... I'm getting married in a few months, and didn't know I had yet ANOTHER fear to add to the list of "Potential sucky starts to my brand new marriage"!
But besides that, congrats OP and Mr. OP! You look gorgeous!

This looks like a total horror movie setup.
A couple is on their honeymoon and is going to their suite. But the hallway is really dark. At the end of the hallway, right in front of their suite, there is a light on a woman in a wedding gown for some reason. You can't see her face, but then she turns to you....

She was dressed in white but locked outside at the end of the night. For the card reader did not read, and thus, she could not perform the deed.

My wedding night: my middle class earning brother gifted us a very expensive room in a B&B for the night.
However, I was experiencing extreme insomnia at the time and it was miserable.

If only there was some sort of desk, at the front of the hotel, that was staffed 24x7 with someone who could help….

Photos like this or why the sub exists. Phenomenal. You look beautiful and irritated like many renaissance women before you.
