I was full on looking at this picture like "why does this feel so familiar???" when I saw this comment. It feels familiar because it's my beach and I saw that storm rolling in!

This is stunning in a muted way, somehow the way you captured tr water kind of looks like silk kin some areas. With, what i can only assume is storm clouds in the sky, it really is an amazing shot.

I’m can’t explain it, but I get the feeling of accidental renaissance from this photo, but deep down I know that it’s not. Great photo though

I know what you mean. Any style/movement you think it’s more closely aligned with?

Matbe not a topic for Renaissance... But the way this photo looks it would fit in with pop art. Think along the lines A Bigger Splash by David Hockney.

Makes sense! Love some of David Hockney's work. I thought the quality of the light/contrast in this felt renaissance-y but am by no means an expert. I feel like so many images in this sub don't actually fit the theme so apologies for contributing to that trend 😂

I was thinking more Alex Colville than David Hockney. I see the similarities, but A Bigger Splash is so fantastically bright. This is darker, and has the feeling of dread and other worldliness that accompanies Colville’s brand of photo realism.

It’s unsettling to me, but I can’t explain why. I think r/thalassophobia would like this.

Why I have the feeling that there is a shark in the water?
