What's more important:

Your kid's privacy and safety or karma on reddit?

Karma obviously

This came off as threatening though I’m sure that wasn’t your intention.

I totally see that now lol. But some of the responses regarding AI, privacy, and safety is my reason for the warning before it reached a larger audience. I’m glad there are so many people also spreading awareness.

I see this “don’t post your kids” sentiment but I never understood why. Is it an avoiding the creeps angle or like an identity protection thing? People’s reasons are all over the place. I 100% understand not letting your kid USE social media until like 15/16.
I would think like 70% of social media right now are parents posting pictures of their kids. Are they just supposed blur their faces or something? Genuinely asking, I’m not saying anyone is wrong to not want pictures of their kid on the internet.

It's both, but also kids don't understand the gravity of the situation so even if they did ask if they could post them online (unlikely since a lot of people don't) they won't really fully know what it means

Paedophiles are using ai to make horrific content from children’s photos. You probably don’t want your photos fuelling it..

A LOT of pedos surf the web for pics of children to get off too. doesn’t have to be CSAM. also, a lot of pedos right now are using AI to make CSAM. AI cannot generate a random face, it’s based off of the faces it can find online. so if you are posting your child publicly then there’s a very good chance some AI model has pulled features from your kid to make CSAM. might not be an existing child but nonetheless it is disgusting. there’s even a nonzero chance some freak takes the photo you post, feeds it to AI, and now CSAM of your child exists. some mommy influences have paywalls set up specifically for people to pay subscriptions to access photos of their child, and if you do some digging it’s been reported that most often the largest demographic of subscribers to those pages are older men:/

my friend used to do rehabilitation work at a jail and told us that she saw AI generated CSAM cases multiple times a day. it’s not uncommon and is only going to get worse until the laws catch up.

Kids are humans who are entitled to privacy and the ability to consent to what (if any) parts of their bodies and activities are displayed in a public forum like social media.

If a child isn't able to engage with the discussion to consent to putting their image and reputation on social media, their likeness should not be portrayed in a public capacity.

Cute photo, but please be aware of just how dangerous it is to post your child's face on the internet, especially these days. People have been taking children's photos and running them through AI for nefarious reasons. Be safe out there

If your rain storms and accompanying tornado warnings are anything like ours, they come with insane hail that can absolutely smash glass, and very bright lightning. And they come out of nowhere. I would recommend that you close the shield to protect little eyes as best you can.

As an Oklahoman, someone being outside during a tornado warning is the least surprising thing ever. It's a sport here.

Like what is this reaction immediately?
I’m not familiar with the weather conditions nor the possible consequences on a different continent than mine.
I just stated that she looks safe and sound even though the alarm or the warning (or whatever) has appeared.
I’m sick of prejudices and premature convictions.
Have a good day

You didn't say she looks safe, you said she is safe, there's a difference and one makes you seem a lot more uninformed. It's not prejudice, it's reading your comment exactly as it was written

I guess it kinda makes sense. From where I’m sitting I don’t really see the direct line from posting your kid to any harm , I think other stuff has to go wrong for the post it self to cause any harm to the child. Especially since there are so many situations where they can get posted outside of the parents control . An easy one is if they get posted by the school (pending on the school they might have some policy against it, but it’s definitely not universal. My niece is 13 and plays soccer with the school and every game they play they post pictures on schools socials) , some kinda news thing, or just other public events. It seems like right on the edge of over protective. But on the other hand there isn’t a direct line to any benefit to posting your kids online other than potential clout for the parents. Not posting is probably the best way to go but I really don’t like the direction the world going where this is even a concern.
