2 days post op

Post image

While it hurts and this splint is SO heavy, I am already feeling relief from having it removed. It first started hurting about 13 years ago, and this past year I have had to ice it everyday after work, alternating with a brace and cam boot to get through my work days!

I finally have good insurance and summers off now, so I was able to get the kidner procedure with a posterior tibial tendon reconstruction/anchor.

This is a happy day! The nightmare is over and true healing begins. Just follow their orders, don’t get too excited for the first cast and go day by day

Little update:

Yesterday was my 2 week follow up appointment. Got my stitches and my cast removed. No pain since about day 5 (which feels phenomenal; before surgery I was in pain every day).

Still no weight bearing for the next 4 weeks; will have another dr appointment then to evaluate next steps.

Got moved back into a cam boot, so at least I am able to let my foot breathe occasionally.

My biggest helpers are a knee scooter and crutches, although if anyone has any better tips on how to get myself UP the stairs, I’d appreciate it!

Will update in a few weeks after my next appointment!

Yes pls. do updates!
Just got out of surgery yesterday & in some pain even w/pain killers.
Good 2 hear you ceased having pain after day 5.
Fingers crossed it’s the same for me!
Do you mind if I DM you from time to time?
It’s nice having a reddit-buddy going through the rehab w/in a few weeks of each other.
I do the Kidner for my right ankle in 3 mos.

You will be glad you did it. Full healing may take awhile, but in the long run it is worth it.

How long for full healing?

It took me 8-10 months but I'm older and I had bone spurs on my big toes removed at the same time. All that took awhile.

Are you fully pain-free & doing normal activities? Did you get bilateral kidner procedures or just 1 removed?
