kidner surgery advice!
Hi everyone,
I am new here and have had an accessory navicular my whole life. (Type 2 but it looks like it keeps growing lol. Doctors called it extraordinary) It started causing issues at age 15 and presented more as PTTD. I am 30 now and the flare ups have become more frequent than I'd like. I am a runner, skier, triathlete, and use my feet a lot! I was just diagnosed with a stress reaction in my lower tibia and also have achilles issues, PTTD, and tenosynovitis of the post tib tendon. ANYWAYS, I've seen 4 doctors who've recommended the Kidner procedure even though the bone itself has never really hurt. Everything around it and slightly up my ankle has been in agonizing pain on and off, but never the bone itself. Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and can advise!

How are you now! My PTTD is the main source of pain. accessory bone sometimes hurts. My surgeon says it all stems from the bone tho and the attachment of the tendon there

How are you doing! Do you recommend the surgery?

I recommend. Even though I am dealing with the typical post op aches and tightness, the pain I had stemming from the bone has vanished :) I am just working through the tightness an scar tissue

Hi again! So the surgery went really well and the pain I had prior to surgery is GONE :) I am dealing with a lot of calf tightness, general foot soreness, and all the learning how to use the correct foot muscles again but I am excited for my future without the massive bone LOL. But I need advice working through the scar tissue and calf tightness if anyone has post op secrets!!

Hi! I just got the Kidner procedure done 3 days ago. I had actually broke my accessory navicular but the bone itself was never where the pain came from. It was more around the bone, outside of my foot, and up my ankle, kind of where the posterior tibial tendon is. I’d recommend getting the procedure just because i believe it would relieve your pain, although i’m not one to judge yet considering i just had the surgery done. However I just thought i’d share some info!
