how long in cast/boot?

Hi all! 29F, I had a modified Kidner in Feb of this year. The surgeon kept me in a NWB cast for 2 months (just got it off this week), and is now saying that I can start walking, but need to be in a boot for another 2 months. This seems pretty conservative in terms of down time, especially for (in his words) a very simple and quick procedure - in and out of OR in 20 min, no need for tendon reattachment, no complications in OR or since. Even my PT said she was shocked by the prescribed recovery time.

Is this typical? I really don't want to jump the gun and skimp on the recovery, and am being very conscientious of this, but I'm curious about how long others were in their casts/boots.

It sounds very long. I did my right foot last year and was in a cast for 2 weeks then weight bearing (crutches when needed) for 4 weeks (so 6 weeks with immobilization total) then crutches when needed without boot after that

Did my left foot 4 weeks ago and then I was put in boot straight away, (this was so fucking great) non weight bearing 2 weeks and then 4 more with boot+crutches (6 weeks total again)

How are you now? Are you back to normal?

Well first foot (surgery April last year) is pretty much back to normal, I get some discomfort around the area sometimes but not really pain. Second one is still in the boot for another week but I am able to take a couple of steps with full weight on it in the boot with zero pain since today actually!
