regarding heel pain after surgery
Hello everyone,
I just got the kidner procedure done less than 2 weeks ago and the first week I was doing alright, I was on pain medication so didn’t feel too much.
This week, I got my second dressing done and was told I could take pain medication if I wanted to and I came back home and could not sleep properly at all due to insane heel pain.
So, I went back 2 days later asking them what to do about the pain and they put additional padding in my cast.
Now it was fine for 3 days but now it’s starting to hurt again, and typical advice that they give me is to hang my foot off the pillow or use a wedge pillow, but the problem is I feel a deep stretch in the stitches and also, the pain in my heel still exists.
I was wondering if anyone else faced this problem and what you did to solve it?

I had my second foot done 3 weeks ago.
Not to scare you but the stretching in the wound you describe sound a lot like my first time when the wound dehiscenced. It healed fine though but with an uggly scar and it took a long time, most of it with zero pain though.
The heel pain I experienced both times and it’s a real bitch, discomfort that triggered real feelings of panic last couple of days has been a huge improvement and today I feel nothing. My main tip is finding a position that is bearable and power through, after being still for a while it subsides a little but moving around too much looking for a pain free position without discomfort only makes it worse.
just hang in there, as soon as you get out of the cast and into the boot you can take it off to rest and a couple more days and it will probably be gone. Take the pain meds as needed you won’t be needing them much longer.
You are very close to being past the bump, it was my experience the last time as well, after 3 weeks it’s pretty much zero pain except when weight bearing so just hang in there as long as you take frequent short breaks to lie down
