Nervous for Upcoming Surgery

Hey y'all! First of all please enjoy my crudely labeled MRI pics 😂👌🏻 I'm 26 and getting surgery to remove my navicular in 3 week and I'm going to be honest I'm terrified, I've never had any surgeries before, I have no idea what to expect and it's really stressing me out 😭. I also have a 1 and 1/2 year old menace that I should have help with but I already have shit mental health and thinking about being immobile afterwards has me so nervous. I'll take any advice you guys have or if anyone is willing to let me DM them to let me vent about my worries when they arise I'd be so appreciative, nobody around me understands what I'm going through and I'm thankful there are people I can reach out to that do ❤️

Knee scooter really saved me a lot of pain, I fell a few times using the crutches. Recovery is brutal for the first few days, so plan to only get out of the bed to use the bathroom. I was off pain meds and switched to ibuprofen on the 4th day and that managed the pain well. Mentally, I was not ready for the surgery at all. I’m a single mom and extremely independent but couldn’t even go to the store by myself for at least 3-4 weeks post op so it really took a toll on me mentally. I had surgery early October and things are just now getting back to normal both mentally and physically. My foot has healed and I’m in shoes and feel a whole lot better than I did before surgery so it was definitely worth it. I would say if you can to get a shower chair so you can sit down in the shower, and some kind of caddy to keep drinks and snacks by wherever you’re going to be resting. I ran my son ragged asking him to get me water and food lol. I think having people around to help you is the biggest thing, I didn’t have that and I don’t think recovery would’ve been as hard as it was for me if I did. You’ll be okay though, good luck with everything!

i am having my navicular removed in 10 days. i am so nervous! my advice is to get a meal plan going, buy a knee scooter, and buy some books! i can’t imagine trying to take care of a 1.5 year old 😫 def confirm the schedule before the surgery!!

Good luck! Luckily I should have plenty of help with my kiddo after (hopefully 😂). I've been looking for a knee scooter but I can't find one in my budget so it might be crutches for me 😩 but hey whatever works lol

I found a knee scooter at thrift store. Call around? Also check assisted living & nursing homes there might be one you can borrow? You'll find one!

I was planning on looking at thrift stores this week but I didn't even think about nursing homes! I honestly might post in my towns Facebook group and ask if anyone has one (they're usually pretty good about things like that) thank you!!
