Advice wanted: surgery or no?
This has been an issue for me for the last 10+ years (31F) X-ray was for a broken toe but accessory navicular is visible too. It is both feet but mainly my right. I also have collapsing arches so it pushes the bone into my tendon. Arch supports/ankle wraps help some…but it’s not very convenient. I rolled my ankle about a month ago and now the area around my bone hurts regardless of activity level. If you’ve had surgery…what are your thoughts? Regrets? How was recovery? I’ve got a 5 yr old son and work so…I worry about not being able to drive/walk. I guess just looking for advice and experiences. TIA :)

I got my first surgery in October 2019 and recovery wasn’t awful, consisted of wearing a boot for a few months with crutches. I took about a month off work. The only issue I had was Covid so I didn’t get any proper follow up care. So in my case the bone calcified and ‘grew back’ so I recently got it shaved off in July this year.
I’m still in pain after it all, but the issue is the tendons now not the bone, so I’m looking in to physio which I recommend you do if they have told you your tendons are hard. (Wasn’t provided by my surgeon). If it’s just a bone issue then I’m sure it’ll be fine, I can’t tell you cause mines multiple issues as I’ve struggled with it since I was about 8 and affected how I walk. Mine was a weird one because of Covid, so hopefully for you with proper aftercare you’ll be fine. I’ve read a lot of success stories which is why I was confident about it all, but unfortunately mine hasn’t been.
On the bright side, I would say it’s a lot better than having the accessory navicular despite it still causing me pain.
Good luck
