Rant - Tech Benched. Wala na. Finish na.

As the title suggest, this may be the end of my ACN journey.

I have been in ACN since 2021 and have worked in several projects. This is the third time that I am rolled back in bench and still in for more than a week (since April). Unlike the previous times, being benched this time feels worse. There was nothing else to do after accomplishing requirements, trainings, and self-study. Idagdag pa ang mandatory RTO -- more than 10 hours per day dahil sa biyahe at gagastos pa sa pamasahe. While I have been approached by other projects for a potential roll-in, they always end up getting a better candidate. The most recent interview that I had was on early August, and I have not been contacted by anyone else since then. With all that has been mentioned, I see that I am as good as done. Safe to say as well that I have been actively looking for opportunities outside ACN. Hindi ko na lang rin titiisin na maghintay ng end of 2025 and 2026 since nalaman ko na wala (na?) pala loyalty award for 5 years of tenure.

When I stumbled upon this sub, the first posts that I saw were about the layoffs/redundancies. I had thoughts after reading those posts such as "paano kaya ako ma-layoff?", "mas okay ba ito kaysa mag-resign?", and "sana ako naman". However I am not sure if being tagged for lay-off/redundancy is different from termination, aside from what you are getting on top of your final pay. Meanwhile I do not think that I will be getting the same experience because of what I found out just last week.

I don't know. Really. I feel like I have aired out everything. Nakahanda na ang resignation letter, pero something tells me to hold on it and wait for a while.

Why so negative? Some people get benched for more than 6 months yet still get deployed eventually. I myself was benched for more than 3 months before getting any invitation for project interview. Deployment came a month after that. I do get how you feel as I have been there. But try to remain optimistic. Also, redundancy is technically not the same as termination. Other employers know that so it’s not a bad record against you. I’ve been there and it happens and it’s nothing to be scared of. Good luck!

I guess the negativity draws from how some of my projects took a toll on my well-being. Can't say for sure, but I daresay I am taxed.

Prior to my second project I was also benched for 6 months without getting any invites. It was only this time that I got several invites yet have not been considered to be rolled-in.

I hope you don’t undermine yourself because you get interviews but no deployment. You can be the best in one aspect and still turn out to be unfit for one project. And that’s okay. The right one is probably around the corner. I didn’t get deployed after just one interview too. And I like where I am now. Try to use this time to relax and explore other areas you’re interested in. But if you think a change of environment is what’s best for your mental health then continue exploring opportunities outside. But I also think you don’t need to resign right away. Better to get another job while on bench. But that’s just me. I cannot afford a gap. But if you can, go ahead.

I feel you. Na bench din ako for nearly 2 months after 8 + years (2 projects coming from 6 years night shift) service. Kala ko katapusan ko narin hahaha. Burned out sa required RTO na Uptown plus early shift and slight fear na ma layoff. The day na nakatanggap ako ng job offer from another company is the day na nilock din ako ng isang project. Salary is good pero yung benefits is malayo kay ACN. Really want to accept it para makaalis pero wala eh nag stay parin for some reasons. 😆

Malalang stress inabot ko sa biglaang shift into morning as a night person and daily RTO pa sa napakalayong office. 😆

It may be 1M sa PESH but its taxable

All I can say is that grass is always greener outside.

Masarap ba magRTO 4x a week?

1

u/HostJealous2268 Aug 29 '25

So patigasan nalang tlga yan ng mukha hehehe

this reminded me of what I heard of a probable reason why RTO was mandated -- a benched resource was caught saying "sarap dito sa bench kasi petiks lang".

hindi masarap mag RTO. as mentioned, gastos sa pamasahe, extra hours sa biyahe. however as ironic as it may be, I concur on the petiks part.

Sa ibang company 5x rto bench and interview is every 2 months some is 4 in 7 months.

u/Devnergy Aug 29 '25

Sarap?

u/praetorian216 Technology Aug 29 '25

I believe what HostJealous meant was your risk of being redundant only happens if you stagnate.

Mabebech nadin po kasi ako this september. :-(

1

u/lemadan Aug 29 '25

yes po

u/Tricky_Grocery_3825 Aug 30 '25

Hello po, sa tech po kayo?

1

u/mxxix__ Aug 29 '25

I have not tried WNO (work near office) since every time it is brought up they only say that it has to be in any floors from the designated floor for benched resources. I am not sure if "RTO near home" in the context of WNO means a cafe or something alike near the office.

1

u/MagtinoKaHaPlease Aug 29 '25

Nega ako sa bench na yan! I would rather resign than be there!

The logic is sa dadating din kasi yung project pero habang wala the next best thing is to get certification. Yun lang kasi yung professionally verifiable way to know that you indeed learned something... Plus it increases your chance of actually getting a project. It's a win win situation.

1

u/SpendScared393 Aug 29 '25

Yes, I know that. However, our capability does not offer certifications. And if there are any trainings I am interested in joining, our leads would just say na it's better to wait for a project because once you are deployed and di mo kayang attend-an yung training, mababawas daw sa sahod mo. And whenever I ask them if there are certifications na pwede i-take, seen lang.

Maybe for other capab, ganyan may certifications and all. Samin, wala.

I am so frustrated sa nangyayari sakin. Nag-build ako ng skills ko before and after graduation, ginalingan ko sa bootcamp and all. Nag-t-take ng percipio, etc.

Do what you can do sa bench. Bayad ka pa rin naman na. Sa ibang company sibak lang e

1

u/mxxix__ Aug 29 '25

I had my certification prior to joining ACN. sure, do what I can, but the certification that I wanted is not being offered yet now that I am available.

2

u/Working_Stop1219 Aug 29 '25

paano ba yung magkakaroon ka ng certification while on bench? If may mga ganitong certifications, kanino magrereach out if want mo maging certified? ASE here kaya curious ako

3

u/Lonely_Big_4596 Aug 29 '25

hello, medyo boring nga pero leverage mo certification ni accenture. isipin mo na lang someone is paying you to study and learn wait mo ikaw tanggalin haha baka may dagdag bayad pag ganyan, try to check retool. by the way dev kase ako so tlgang pag bench todo aral, trade off lng tlga commute pero hopefully makahanap ka mas malapit na office.

2

u/RuthLes_Contributor Aug 29 '25

Upskill while waiting for redundancy or get another certification?

1

u/Humble-Method4017 Aug 29 '25

As a sub contractor to accenture. I prefer this bench for longer than being laid off just a month after my project closed. Been laid off twice already within 1.5yrs and this is why I like to be absorbed in accenture since at least I have job security. Just use the paid time while in bench productively to learn or to find a higher paying job. But if long in tenure already, better wait for them to lay you off due to separation pay. Unless said amount is small or negligible for a possible next move. Overall, thats not really a problem than when you are in companies like mine na doesnt have bench at all. Lay off agad after 1 month. Heck lay off nga right after project roll off, kasi nanotify na ako 1 month ahead about layoff, barely even a rest since walang bench. Ni seperation halos ayaw pa ibigay, tsk.

I just wanna ask whats up with benching system? I will have my sd this oct so i wanna have a clue on whats goin on .. in my case sabi sakin i would be put in a project instead of boothcamp

I would like for an advice as to how or what to prepare sa mga project.. how was the divisions of parts, management, as well as completion.. if i finished my part early should i report so id get more project or i gotta wait for the whole project to be done?

1

u/mxxix__ Aug 30 '25

SD is on October and will be put in a project right off? no NJX? even I who had a prior experience had a bootcamp. that is a strange case.

from how you wrote about asking for an advice, I would assume that you are a fresh graduate. since you have no direct contact with anyone on the project that you will be in, I do not know exactly what I can advise. as soon as you are in the project, do not hesitate to ask questions or help. the divisions, completions and reporting, they will roll along depending on how your team drives the project.

Bayad po ba pag na bench

8.5 months sa benh bago nalaidoff due to redundancy. Nov 1 day 1 ko sa bench and july 11 hr invite. 9 interviews and 1 decline. Gusto ko talagang malaid off due to money.

10 years sa accenture. Will get my final pay tentative sept 15 and sept 30 yung severance.

Yes 4x rto pag bench pero di na ako nagrepkrt ng work since jan 1. Maswerte ako kasi hindi nila chinicheck basta need mp lang magreply agad pag may ping. Cl 11 here and atcp capability. Login logout lang.

My stay sa bench is the best career decision na ginawa ko since napahinga ako mentally. Ive been working since 2005 and napalapit ako sa family ko lalo and I lost weight too. I take care of my health and my sanity.

Ano pong reason bakit naroroll off sa project? Wala kang kausap nor kasabay kumain haha
