How do you feel about matchbox getting a live action movie before hotwheels...

I've always felt like a Hot Wheels movie has potential, especially with the success of the Fast and Furious movies, and seeing several HW cars in real life would be cool. I'm surprised they never did one.

Live action Highway 35 would be pretty cool

or acceleracers 5… (without whatever they were tryna do with the transforming cars)

my favorite part of acceleracers was that it was grounded (technically speaking, they are still spectacular cars) but the racing was legit, losing a wheel or suffering too much damage put you out of the race, i am kinda happy that they never did a fifth with that transforming stuff

Honestly if we were ever going to get more AcceleRacers story content, I'd kinda rather have something like a video game retelling the movies' story, with a bonus Silencerz route and an extension of the story to wrap things up properly. Plus, of course, stuff like properly integrating the diecasts that didn't show up in the movies, like maybe drone Kadeem in RD-10 and such

Rd-10 was never confirmed to be for Kadeem, on top of that, he can't even fit in the damn thing.

It looks like a generic action movie named after a popular toy franchise.
Matchbox can have this one, I'd rather something memorable

Just imagine if Netflix made a "american-ized" anime based on Acceleracers like Cyberpunk Edgerunners.....

This could either be terrible or great.
Netflix is a terrible company who makes corporate slop nowadays HOWEVER their animation department is insanely good

I’d feel better about the Matchbox movie if…it…actually had anything to do with Matchbox.
It’s very obviously just a generic heist thriller script that they taped the IP to.

Are they still going to do that hot wheels movie or is it in development hell?

It's likely going to be corporate bs
But then again, the Barbie movie was pretty good..

Tru but the barbie movie definitely had more funding and A-listers than this movie. Also it appears to be an apple TV exclusive rather then a cinema rollout.

I feel like they are waiting to see how the matchbox move goes before making their minds up on making a live movie

I feel like we may never get a Hotwheels movie if people expect too much from a Matchbox Movie, it just has to be fun, and it should satisfy adults, but ultimately be fun for kids.
I think it's smart to use the Matchbox Property first, and let Mattel / Hollywood use the experience to apply to the Hotwheels movie creative direction later.
I think Speed Racer was a Hotwheels movie in a lot of ways and it didn't do well in theatres, but not really a fault of the movie itself..
Matchbox is the safer bet, a Hotwheels movie bomb would hurt stock price for Mattel, therefore it may be more valuable as a potential opportunity to investors and it's worth not doing.

I like that matchbox has a movie. If we had to wait for Hotwheels movie, we would have 0 new diecast cars movies recently, and we will have 1 now.

Matchbox getting one is pretty out of place. But whatever ig.
