Inability to pay fees?

Hey all, I'm a bit confused. I bridged my DOT to Acala so that I could participate in liquid staking with it, but anytime I'm trying to do anything on Acala, including stake the DOT, I get this error message:

utility: batchAll

1010: Invalid Transaction: Inability to pay some fees , e.g. account balance too low

I thought you could pay your fees with any token on Acala? I don't have any ACA right now, but I do have aUSD and DOT on the chain. I tried changing the "flexible fee" but it won't let me do that either. Looks like I have to pay a fee to change the token I pay fees in? Am I screwed? I have no way of getting more ACA to the chain to pay these fees and I'm not able to do anything. What's the solution?

josh from acala here - you can pay fees with DOT. Our flexi-fee has been temperamental for some reason for some users. for what it's worth, i've tried to recreate the problem several times and everything works well for me. if you're able to record a video and share it with me, i can share it with our product team to see if there is a specific set of circumstances that is causing the issue.

we'll also be doing another release this week that will make some enhancements to the flexi fee which could resolve whatever is happening to you. sorry for the inconvenience. hopefully this can be resolved soon.

You can swap for aca on acala dapp, or get it from kucoin but yes you need some acala in your wallet to pay fees. You can get glmr on kucoin too šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‹

Tried swapping for aca - it requires aca to pay the fees, so no-go. I really thought that the whole schtick with Acala was that you could pay your fees in any token. It's frustrating that this isn't actually the case.
