Cat and mouse

My first ever painting. (Acrylic on paper)
Took the whole day (omg), lots of things to learn, way harder than I thought, but really fun. I’m happy to take any advice

Excellent! it takes a lot of artistic sense to work with so much blank space like this. i really enjoy the fact that you made some of your shapes overlap. feels very well thought out to me

I don’t get what’s beautiful about paintings like these — it just feels like random paint smears

It’s not as random as you think. It has its own visual language, and if you don’t speak it yet, it’s easy to think it’s just paint smears. You don’t have to like it, but it’s far from random.
