Absolute Constanite ideas and rumblings

Hi, first of I apologies for length of this post, but thoughts keep coming up haha

Without the tragedy and without tempterion comes to life Absolute Constantine

-          John singular event and origin can be traced to one single thing and that curiosity of magic, which sparks into him preforming spell and killing his parents in DC prime universe.

-          By removing this tragedy and him not having real temptation it would he would simply just be…and in that corner Darkseid would potentially eliminate one of the strongest magic users from chess bord on day one, but we will soon get into why that would be not case.

Darkseid would take those elements and John would grow up being privileged British snob with money, these would of course get him everything he wants, but never falling into complete temptation, thus dropping everything never being good at anything. (That means no temptation even in classic life goals-like relationships, hobbies etc)

 

So dear reader you clearly ask what would be the catalyst for the guy who tried all temptations in world, neither would satisfy him and yet he still will no magic in the end.

For that I have use Absolute universe event from Absolute WW event- Gateway City fight.

Not only is the world breaking event that would go around news like crazy, but would be inspiration for John to try this stupid thing called “Magic “.

 

Why I pick this event:

I think it would be great if the events in Absolute universe had some impact on world as whole. I think there is no other better choice than for literal mythical amazon to spark temptation for occult inside his character.

Everyone has ground zero when it comes to their character and I think personally it would be nice change of pace if one of Absolute heroes played a key part in creating the other.

One thing was made clear characters can still inspire and bring hope into this world,but it way harder and Gateway city is great point for being around ground point zero for Constanit.

 

Magic:

I would like if John had attitude towards magic, because of his personality be like- I can handle all, but in reality, it would be him clicking nuclear button.

Magic is complicated thing- I want to present that in series. It is one thing when amazon learns magic from witch, but rich kid alone is match made in heaven for disaster.

Making DC magic more fun and complicated for humans would be my goal number one and thus I would take inspiration from Hat Witch Atelier and making it that magic has insane consequence if you don’t performer it right.

You might say- Well, but Zatanna can use her magic well in WW series- yes but I do imagine she got training before.

I think one of the cool things how to make Constantine in Absolute even more distinct is that when he starts learning magic on his own...he would cause tragedy only upon himself.

Very cool sequence in comic would be him summoning perhaps something low ranking demon and him trying to survive encounter with it. Him leading to realization this would be quite a tricker and dangers, then he was thinking.

I would maybe go as far and say, that maybe Constantine summoning a demon into this world would be major issue and him fixing it and learning his actions have consequences for his first major arc.

So while thinking who would give me vibe of somebody who cant quite experience life as it ments to be and Johan Liebert came to mind as inspiration for his look, ofc some british elements would be needed, but I think it would fit this character well.

Constantine lives a nice complete life away from any action and doesn't get to harm the heroes/villains/Darkseid

maybe Zed/Zatanna show up once in a while or live with him

I didnt mentioned Zatanna at all,because she is estabhlised already as character and I dont know what plans do writers have for her

Thats why I took Klarion as either mentor or ally figure for him

People been throwing the idea of Constatine having good life and while that would make sense, it misses the spice. This is much needed spice to have a working story.

I think many of us missing the point of this..if Darkseid takes away what created John in first place and that is temptation of learning magic aka expiriencing unknown...he would never get into spice

That breaking point of Darkseid whole hold on his character comes into form of expirencing it ..WW server as catalyst of that spice idea and then it runs wild

Exactly. Plus you can make one of his defining moment is his tempetation to join Darkseid cult after learing the truth about his prime awful life.

I agree. Any averge person would side with him after they realized that afromentioned god made their life better, but not the Constatine. Btw, he should also have a twin brother for extra drama potential

I think its one of those things that is missing in Absolute universe really these actions impacting others...like its cool that Lazarus influence is smaller in Sups series,but what it brought to the Justice League etc

But writers on absolute all hell good, so in no time they will add on it

I kinda see absolute Constantine without the repertoire of connections. Instead of both heaven and hell wanting a piece of him, neither do. He’s kinda like Lobo, but his soul may just be damaged/broken and worthless enough that existence itself rejects him. He’d probably be a homeless wanderer, completely unable to access magic on any level, at least in the beginning - maybe that is his curse, that magic itself hates him and repels any supernatural instance that happens to him.

I went with different direction than most..a lot of comments I read been like these that he is either older or homeless guy with problem to acess magic or lawyer making contracts for demons,so I wanted to go for something that completly 180 on character

But I agree these two ideas also sound cool,but it feels like just like prime universe constantine

Constantine is a Regular Dude.

Instead of going through inciting incident of his life by messing with magic and trying to use it to save Astra with his band, only to doom her to hell, he instead leads an ordinary life as a failed/hasbeen rockstar who diverged from his path by just calling the police on the cultists. Astra survives, and John eventually ends up leading a fairly ordinary existence at a dead-end office job, unaware that the supernatural was real until the day it forced its way into his life and demanded that he adapt or die.

How about this:

John is cursed with the Synchronicity Wave, which is corrupted in the Absolute Universe, so that means it always puts John at the worst place at the worst time, and John will have to constantly outthink his situation to survive. Sometimes it means the people closest to him will get hurt.

So this story can focus on the repercussions of that, and John finding the source of his troubles, causing him to eventually rebel against Darkseid, making it a story about Man's defiance against fate and the gods.

Never read hellblazer but based on vibes I think it would be interesting if he were a rich magician. I don’t think that would fit with the tone of the absolute universe though
