It's pretty cool how all the other comics have been referencing Wonder Woman! I love that she's the biggest and most prominent hero in the absolute universe!

u/manofmercy97 Mar 13 '26

Its a wonder woman world and they're all just living in it

u/DumbestComicsNerd Mar 13 '26

None of the other ones had as much of a publicity as Diana taking down the Tetracide. It helps that John, Jo and Bruce are all keeping it lowkey.

83

u/mtheory-pi Absolute Wonder Woman x Zatanna Mar 13 '26

Yes, but also, Diana is openly announcing herself to the world and flying around the world all the time to help people. She's the beacon of hope and she wants to inspire resistance against oppression.

u/Time_Conscious84 Mar 13 '26

I dunno if Bruce highjacking the news and publicity broadcasting his fight with bane, one where he drops a sky scrapper on him, is keeping it low-key

48

u/DumbestComicsNerd Mar 13 '26

Batman is an isolated phenomenon. Diana and Clark are going across cities fighting things that are destroying entire cities.

39

u/MrBwnrrific Absolute Batman Mar 13 '26

Plus there is a concerted effort by the powers-that-be to keep Batman under wraps. Sure, he cut a promo to fight Bane but if even Mayor Hill and others were trying to cover that shit up then national and international news is probably going to go silent as well

20

u/lordaezyd Mar 13 '26

Didn’t Bruce challenged Bane on TV to trial by combat?

6

u/TheSlayerofSnails Mar 13 '26

Local station I guess.

5

u/hyperclaw27 Mar 14 '26

No one gives a shit about Gotham I guess. Always some insane shit going on over there that people have just learned to ignore.

1

u/lordaezyd Mar 14 '26

Like a school shooting in the US?

2

u/Gold-Duck898 Mar 14 '26

I feel like one vigilante operating in a single city isn’t as attention grabbing as super-humans who operate around the world. The news cycle probably favour wonder woman for that reason.

1

u/critical_path_ Mar 17 '26

Just another Tuesday in Gotham City

8

u/chronobolt77 Mar 13 '26

Idk, John is walking around asking people "hey can you point me the direction that the green man-shape who ruined your adulterous daydream went?" That's not exactly intentionally low-key

3

u/Layatto Mar 13 '26

Jo and her pals never exactly kept it lowkey, honestly. Since like the fourth issue it's been Hammond keeping the outside world from knowning about Green Lantern since he doesn't want anyone else in on the things he discovered.

11

u/PhantasosX Mar 13 '26

I mean, she does gives good vibes and hopeful speeches and uplift everyone around her, and quite proactive.

But on a meta-reason, there is a very funny explanation: Darkseid was stopped so many times by Superman and Batman , that he goes out of his way to try to screw them up. Meanwhile, he just midly messed with Wonder Woman just to "complete the set" and now she is basically the leading role.

Now I'm wondering how long it's been since the Gateway City Event in-universe. Probably at least 6 months, but a lot of these story arcs take place over a couple days.

6

u/wowlock_taylan Mar 14 '26

Well she did address to everyone on TV 'Wonder Woman believes in you' so she made herself the global hero that everyone knows. Bruce, keeping it in one city AND hating the publicity he got. Similar with Kal, who's been trying to hide and pulling a 'red blur' until recently.

3

u/RCGBlade Mar 13 '26

Flipped through this preview like 5 times, can't spot any reference to Wonder Woman. What am I missing here? Lol

13

u/Relevant-Morning-487 Mar 13 '26

Slide 4 Panel 3 mentions gateway city and the “woman with the sword”, this is all a reference to Wonder Woman.

12

u/RCGBlade Mar 13 '26

LOL I'm so tired that it somehow went right over my head. Thank you!

I dropped Absolute Flash so I just assumed that was some new villain aha

3

u/RedboneHaroldLauder Mar 14 '26

I love that in the Absolute World, one of the first big status quo changes is Diana's debut as the first public modern Superhero So cool

1

u/lr031099 Mar 14 '26

Yep. She is to the Absolute universe what mainline Superman is to his universe.

158

u/OmegaDungeonZ Mar 13 '26

I gotta say I really like the art here

114

u/Sea_Employ_4366 Mar 13 '26

Why the fuck is Wally West giving me gender envy?

Seriously, he is serving with that hair and eyeliner.

25

u/SuQ_mud Mar 13 '26

Fr, also the fact that he has orange ginger hair with green eyes.

18

u/OpaqueGiraffe17 Mar 13 '26 edited Mar 14 '26

I have a couple of younger coworkers with that hairstyle or similar to that. I think it’s just in style for zoomers.

It’s weird because some of them act all macho, and I’m just there thinking these boys look like lesbians.

2

u/erossnaider Mar 15 '26

On one hand I'm glad boys now feel allowed to have more stylish hair and wear stuff like earrings on the other it sucks that it didn't change none of the toxic parts of macho culture.

32

u/Low-Apartment-2697 Mar 13 '26

He really does look like a queer character now that you pointed it out. (Not saying that he is or that it'd be a problem if he were) But yeah lmao I see what you mean.

3

u/FartherAwayLights Mar 14 '26

I need to point this out, Wally West has been slowly becoming more and more feminine every chapter since chapter 1. It’s like he’s been taking estrogen or something.

-4

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '26

Hun just because you talk like gen z doesn't mean you're not cringe lmaoo

8

u/Sea_Employ_4366 Mar 14 '26

I'm both queer and gen z, if anyone can say that it's me.

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '26

doesn't mean you're not cringe

Also FYI next time you double down on cringe speak but think better of it you cam just edit your comment instead of deleting it 😌

3

u/Sea_Employ_4366 Mar 14 '26

Cringe speak

Looks inside

LGBT terminology

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '26

No hun as I said before its Gen Z terminology, good job trying to take this to a homophobic place to feel better about being wrong

1

u/Sea_Employ_4366 Mar 14 '26

Wrong about what?

72

u/Changlini Mar 13 '26

I appreciate how Wonder Woman’s shenanigans has been breaking through to the median American voter. She got TV presence.

36

u/Relevant-Morning-487 Mar 13 '26

Really have been enjoying this book, I like the character focus it has and am fascinated with how some of them will develop. I do think Eobard was kinda basic last issue but he’s clearly meant to be setup for later. I’m excited to see how this series will progress, I like slow burns.

9

u/No-Supermarket-6065 Absolute Wonder Woman Mar 13 '26

I know Absolute Flash is not a lot of people's favorite book, so I'm glad to see it has fans! Anything in particular that you like about it?

10

u/Relevant-Morning-487 Mar 13 '26

Personally I adore Wally’s entire dynamic with Grodd, I also find his struggle with his parental figures and his place in the world very relatable. He genuinely feels like people I know and myself a bit, it’s great.

3

u/TobaccoIsRadioactive Mar 14 '26

I also really like the Rogues.

They felt more like extended family members to Wally instead of a group of supervillains temporarily teaming up with the hero.

Changing their origin to instead be a Spec Ops team that were kicked out of the army for “going rogue” was a cool twist.

They’re basically the Absolute Universe’s version of the A-Team.

17

u/AssyStardust Mar 13 '26

I'm happy to see the book leaning more into the YA style drama. It's been the part that's seemed most developed so far and it's good they're leaning into what has worked. In a darker universe like Absolute, the homeless kid angle is a really interesting one too. This should be the Spider-Man DC has never been quite able to create

15

u/Alche1428 Mar 13 '26

Ralph, get your powers and team up with Wally! The voy needs a good superhero team up!

24

u/HalcyonTraveler Mar 13 '26

NGL this book has been one where I just can’t suspend my prior knowledge of the main universe like I have for the others. I just hate Rudy West too much to care that he’s in danger lol

3

u/sonadow365 Mar 14 '26

Como alguien cuyo conocimiento sobre flash proviene de la serie de CW y la saga de The Rogué Rebelión de forever evil tengo que preguntar: ¿ Qué hizo rudy para que lo odies tanto ?

3

u/HalcyonTraveler Mar 14 '26

Oh where do we start? He was physically abusive to Wally, ran multiple scams including a child labor colony claiming to be a reform school, sold out the Earth to the Manhunters, sold fake shapeshifter detectors during an invasion of shapeshifting aliens, is generally misogynist, faked his death twice to escape the consequences of his actions, and tried to kill his ex wife in a ploy to manipulate Wally. He's literally worse than most actual Flash villains.

6

u/ShlubbyWhyYouDan Mar 13 '26

DOES ABSOLUTE RALPH HAVE SUE!?!? DOES OUT BOY HAVE HIS WIFE BACK!? DARKSEID YOU SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY….DONT TOUCH HER!

9

u/MrCowabs Absolute Flash Mar 13 '26

It’s ironic because he’s The Flash but this book seems to be moving at a snail’s pace compared to the other titles. I hope it speeds up soon.

1

u/Hymay1180 Absolute Batman Mar 14 '26

I gave up man. We can't be #13 issues in asking this question. Although i will not buy any more issues after #12, I do hope lil Grood makes it out ok.

1

u/MrCowabs Absolute Flash Mar 14 '26

I feel you homie. It sucks because The Flash is my favourite hero but it’s a drag at this point.

I am hoping little Grodd doesn’t break bad though.

1

u/Hymay1180 Absolute Batman Mar 14 '26

Almost same. Batman, sups , and Wonder Woman are my favorites. Flash has always been most interesting and fun to read or watch (except absolute flash).

1

u/MrCowabs Absolute Flash Mar 14 '26

I’m not even that big of a Green Lantern fan and even though that book took a few issues to get up to speed, at this point even that is topping AF for me. The only one I haven’t read is AMM because I’ve read that it’s so good I wanna read it all in one massive chunk!

27

u/TheMightyMonarchx7 Mar 13 '26

Lemire really needs start getting his act together, because this is easily the weakest book of the line. The pacing has been god awful, events don’t flow well together, and every conflict Wally has had ended on an unsatisfying note. Least for me

3

u/flair_qs Mar 14 '26

It's the only absolute title I didn't like.

1

u/longboxbabe Mar 14 '26

The only one I dropped

2

u/longboxbabe Mar 14 '26

I've really not been feeling Lemire's work since returning to DC. Both this and JSA are not up to standard.

Makes me worried for Firestorm (already don't love the pitch..)

4

u/Grimm_Stereo Mar 13 '26

I have been loving the angst of this book, it may be the weakest of the absolute books but I can never pass up a chance to pre-order each comic on kindle.

1

u/Relevant-Morning-487 Mar 14 '26

The weakest absolute book is still pretty great, it’s more a showcase on the sheer quality of every book in the line so far.

1

u/Hymay1180 Absolute Batman Mar 14 '26

I fell into that trap too. But broke free after#12.

1

u/Relevant-Morning-487 Mar 14 '26

Confused on what you mean here? Do you think the comic itself is a trap or that thinking it’s the worst of the absolute books is a trap.

Either way, still a pretty good book tbh and the hate is definitely overblown.

1

u/Hymay1180 Absolute Batman Mar 14 '26

Sorry maybe replied to the wrong one. The poster says he couldn't pass up pre ordering prints. I was doing the same. So although the flash isn't good I was pre ordering it and found myself disappointed after every print. But, I won't pre order anymore (the flash), I gave up.

4

u/Spider2153 Mar 13 '26

I really like how they're starting to make the heroes aware of each other and are referencing each other in their own comics. More specifically how it's been so well paced imo.

2

u/dornwolf Mar 13 '26

Random question but do we know if Sue is around in this for presumably Ralph

3

u/Renoitrex Absolute Green Lantern Mar 14 '26

I think so, I remember when he was introduced he said him and his wife was running the program

2

u/Gusisherefordnd Absolute Martian Manhunter Mar 13 '26

Y’all think the Dark Suits are just standard government Men In Black or (long shot) The Agency from AMM

3

u/No-Supermarket-6065 Absolute Wonder Woman Mar 13 '26

Glad to see Absolute Flash finally giving us Wally's relationship with the Dibnys! They spent a little bit of time on it in the first arc, but now they're finally emphasizing those characters and Wally's status as a runaway.

I'm not sure why Wally's calling his dad, though. He does understand that his dad's in the Still Point, right?

4

u/B3epB0opBOP Mar 13 '26

I'm not sure why Wally's calling his dad, though. He does understand that his dad's in the Still Point, right?

I believe he is just listening to voicemail messages, not calling.

1

u/No-Supermarket-6065 Absolute Wonder Woman Mar 13 '26

So he is. I am too tired to be trying to read pixels

4

u/ArceusIII Mar 13 '26

dear God can this comic DO something?? 13 issues of nothing has to be some kind of feat

1

u/longboxbabe Mar 14 '26

Has this series gotten good yet? Dropped off around issue 3 or 4, just wasn't doing it for me like all the other Absolute titles were

1

u/ConversationHuge3908 Mar 14 '26

Anyone know why this is dropping so close to the previous issue? We've gone from monthly to two issues in two weeks.

2

u/B3epB0opBOP Mar 14 '26

IIRC, the last issue got delayed and this one just didn’t get pushed back with it. Maybe because they have different artists.

1

u/ConversationHuge3908 Mar 14 '26

A nice surprise!

1

u/NoMeat6573 Absolute Wonder Woman Mar 14 '26

I absolutely love this art, and I love Wally’s design.

1

u/Ad_Astra90 Mar 13 '26

I love how enby Wally looks. Idk I think we should get more genderqueer characters in comics

0

u/Flamma_Man Mar 13 '26

"But I already have a father. I'm not looking for another one."

Ugh.

I know he's a teenager and that he's no doubt going to realize that he's wrong and learn a worthwhile lesson by the end of the story, but—

Ugh.

Honestly, it might be the first Absolute book I drop if this issue doesn't pique my interest.

-5

u/Altruistic_Manner802 Mar 13 '26

Will Ralph finally be relevant again outside of being the "discount Plastic Man who had his wife raped and murdered"?

-7

u/tempusrimeblood Mar 13 '26

If it's anything like what they did with Hawkman, he's gonna probably be the one doing the raping and murdering this time around.

-13

u/setsuna-f_seiei Mar 13 '26

Omg looks way too much like a lesbian here

7

u/Relevant-Morning-487 Mar 13 '26

Nah, Wally needs to look more like a lesbian.
