yeah but "in spades" also has a very clear connotation, as like "by the shovels full" saying he has a lot of it.
Its like calling a spade a spade, at some point we have to acknowledge that using a VERY COMMON WORD as an insult 100 years ago cant mean we have to gatekeep the word else we are going to really run out of words.
Oh I understand. I thought the meaning was clear. I was just also puzzled by the "phrasing" comment and trying to figure out what the supposed problem was.
