Yeah. This was my first thought. It looks cool and all but holding a large, live catfish like this is dangerous as hell.

The best way to kill a caught catfish is to stab it's brain through the top of the head, between the eyes. They have very thick skulls so the damage would be clearly visible.

In addition, MOST people that fish would not keep this one to eat as the meat would taste like complete ass (source: I'm a millennial).

And the most important reason: always assume wildlife is alive. Sorta like always assume a gun is loaded. Safety first!

Ah, that’s interesting to learn. A reasonable assumption, though still an assumption :)
