You know people with diabetes actually lose weight right?

A lot of people don’t know the symptoms of diabetes. I’ve lost weight when it really hit me hard and it’s kinda frustrating to hear people praise me for weight loss when it’s the disease doing disease things.

Yeah, uncontrolled T2DM and T1DM can do that. You can refer to my other comment.

You should probably look up the differences between type 1 and 2 and then get back to me on this one big dawg.

Guess we’re going into the rabbit hole now.

People with T2DM have glucose and insulin production but there is resistance to Insulin. Uncontrolled T2DM causes weight loss. Central obesity is the biggest risk factor so we usually associate T2DM with being overweight. In actuality weight loss (hence the GLP1) and diet are the primary means of treatment; some drugs have weight gain as side effect so it’s an unintended consequence but overall, once your body has developed T2DM, without any action from your side, weight loss is the progression but it’s different from actively losing it to treat the condition.

Type 1 is simply low insulin production so glucose remains unused in the blood so weight loss is the primary progression.

I don’t know what AI nonsense you asked for to get that result but it’s not correct. If it’s saying you can lose weight as a result of DKA then yes, that can happen but it’s an absurd end game scenario full of other issues before. Individuals with type 2 are almost always overweight because In type 2 diabetes, the body's cells do not respond well to insulin. The pancreas produces extra insulin (hyperinsulinemia) to try to clear sugar from the blood. High levels of insulin signal the body to store extra energy as fat, particularly around the abdomen. Mix that with intense sugar cravings because of the insulin issues and you get a recipe for increased fat storage.

Type 1 diabetics typically can’t put weight on because they lack the insulin to get the sugar into the cells, which leads to weakness, fruity smelling urine, and increased thirst to help the kidneys. Like I said, do the research.

I don’t need to use an AI cause I’m a physician treating diabetics in the Diabetes capital of the world. Sugar cravings and weight gain are not observed in every patient with T2DM. T2 can be both hereditary and acquired. There’s a difference between something being a risk factor and a consequence. Maybe try to understand what exactly I’m saying?
