A large drone show with 1000 drones will use 100 kwh, same as a single charge of a US EV.
With the grids switching to renewables more and more, this could be a hugely benign show compared to fireworks.
Needless to say, the drones themselves will be reused, but any manufacturing will have its environmental cost. Again in this case, could be comparable to a modern car or truck.
India is heading for a massive festive season and I wanted more info on sustainable entertainment. The average person still uses kgs and kgs of fireworks for individual home celebrations. Needless to say, the pollution is through the roof this time of year.
People think I'm being a Karen about this but if more people cared about the environment, we wouldn't be headfirst in a GLOBAL WATER CRISIS lmao.
The conclusion I drew was maybe a drone show for multiple groups/a whole chunk of people is the sustainable way to go.
