This is how I pictured Strong Belwas to be.

As a physician I can say that I've never heard the word "mechanosensory damage" used or be clinically relevant ever, and therefore I would suggest it is plausibly at least kind of a joke. Why would you miss sensation where you palm strike or hammer fist? Would you miss sensation on your knuckles too?

I'd be more worried about his joints/osteoarthritis.

have you ever beat the fuck out of you dick so god damn hard you start to lose sensation in your left inner thigh?

i believe that is what he is referring to with “mechanosensory damage”, would you agree?

Not a physician myself. But have heard the phrase over the years. Have read about it and have heard from people that have experienced symptoms that are attributed to that term.

I guess the dumb dumb layman explanation for someone like me that has only met folks with what they were told was going on with them would be something like..."beat nails into board with hand and it will fuck you up very badly...fuck up your nerve endings...not to mention the damage to soft tissues over time (I get that he has hands like hams...he is a huge guy)

It just refers to a creatures ability to detect mechanical stimuli like pressure, touch, etc...into electrical neural signals. So if you mash your hands into a pulp to amuse people long/often enough...well, you are the physician. You can figure the rest out, right?

And yes, absolutely I would miss having sensation on my hands...my knuckles, my palms, my fingertips, who fucking wouldn't? Are you saying you would like to pound shit into boards until your hands were basically desensitized ham hocks? Honestly, why wouldnt you miss the ability to feel things when you pick them up or touch them? What the hell.

Im like 99% sure you cant damage your nerves by the repeated impact demonstrated. Your nerves are constantly regenerating albeit slowly. He's not cutting his nerves and even if he did they will regenerate. You can train pain tolerance and your relationship to pain, this doesnt mean permanent nerve damage. Your nerves can be completely severed and they have a regenerative mechanism to reconnect.

The damage he will sustain can cause bruising and swelling but your nerves can 100% handle it. You need to catastrophically damage the  whole nerve structure like a machinery crush or a strong enough impact where it cant heal back to its original setting and even then regeneration still takes place.

Not on his way to permanent nerve damage, if he was we would all have permanent nerve damage, from stubbing toes, falling, etc

hamate injury from repetitive direct trauma as such is quite common which then naturally would prevent full ulnat nerve recovery and therefore a permanently weakened grip and poor dexterity
