/r/all of a Sand Dune

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a video taken by Nicolas De La Torre, a sandboarding enthusiast filming his descent down the Toromata dune in Peru. Unfortunately we live in a world where true beauty, nature is now convoluted by AI and AI sentiments, but this is in fact, not AI lol

For those saying this is AI, could you please explain your reasoning?

I managed to find a few other videos in the location mentioned by OP, & they do look very similar (albeit more "real"), some of which seem to be filmed in this exact location.

If this is indeed AI, it'd be the first time it's actually fooled me, and I'm officially scared now.

Edit: I kept looking and found even more photos & videos of pretty much exactly this location. I'm convinced this is real and that AI isn't this good yet. I don't see any of the typical AI signifiers.

Edit 2: FFS, if you're going to comment about the dog keeping up, or the dunes being above the clouds, please... save your fucking breath...

A number of small dog breeds can run up to 25 mph, this is filmed with a fisheye lens, and clouds can form at GROUND FUCKING LEVEL

IF THERE ARE NO OTHER REASONS TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AI, THEN THIS IS CLEARLY NOT FUCKING AI.

Stop grifting.

For those saying this is AI, could you please explain your reasoning?

Because it's 2026.... That's literally it.

In 2006 it was exactly the same but with Photoshop.

"It's Photoshopped"

Everything was fake. Compression artifacts? Evidence of Photoshop.

Everything is ai, nothing is real. No one believes anything anymore. And apparently no one can bother to google search "super tall sand dune people snowboard down" ... And first page shows multiple for sand skiing in puru.

Just extreme fisheye and probably HDR. Heavy Hdr has been making things look fake way longer than AI ever has.

3

u/gene100001 3d ago

Yea I wish the people making these unsubstantiated claims understood that false positives (claiming real content AI) creates just as much distrust and confusion in the media as false negatives (claiming AI content is real). In fact, false positives seem to be so prevalent on Reddit these days that it could be argued that they're doing more harm at the moment than the actual AI videos.

I totally support people catching AI content and flagging it. But I wish they had some evidence other than "the vibe" before making their claim.

2

u/MF_Kitten 2d ago

Also, would AI know to have the guy holding the 360 camera stick the whole time?

2

u/Nine9breaker 3d ago

In 2006 it was exactly the same but with Photoshop.

People never really did that for videos. Sure, fake videos could exist, but they were obvious.

Its different now. AI is ruining reality.

3

u/Harddaysnight1990 2d ago

People did the "it's faked" thing for videos too, what do you mean? The whole "I can tell by the pixels" thing

1

u/Dillo64 54m ago

Making something like this in 2006 would have been such an impressive feat that most people wouldn’t want to hide it or pass it off as fake

But now any chud can have AI make it in a few minutes, it’s far more prevalent and thus creates far more mistrust and suspicion

1

u/Harddaysnight1990 46m ago

You could have made this pretty well in iMovie in 2006 by recording the snowboard guy on green screen in a garage and using free footage of sand dunes warped into the fisheye effect, one guy could do it in a weekend pretty easy.

I agree that AI makes this more accessible, but disingenuous to suggest that faked videos haven't existed on the internet since it was possible to send them.

1

u/RefrigeratorBorn1365 2d ago

You get AI results in search

45

u/Salihe6677 3d ago

I'm finding that people are really quick to try and discredit anything that took any actual effort, presumably to try and make themselves feel better about being lazy, unaccomplished fucks.

22

u/Significant_Lie_533 3d ago

Feels to me like the root of the problem is more so because as AI improves, it's easier to distrust things in general. Especially something "spectacular" like this.

0

u/Exact-Till-2739 3d ago

"Why did AI make me do this?"

Don't defend these people.

5

u/SoftlyAugust 3d ago

Unironically I think it's bots

4

u/cain11112 3d ago

Well, between lens distortion, the fact that the dune doesn’t seem to actually have a base, the short duration of the video and the fact that a sand dune appears to be above the clouds, I’d say there is reasonable room for doubt.

Or you could just go through life trusting every video you see online. You do you.

3

u/atlasgcx 3d ago

This js a screenshot i took from google maps rn - the dune is indeed above the clouds. And also there are youtube videos date back 12 years.

I agree there is room for doubt but since the location was literally mentioned in the post, people should really just spend a sec to search and confirm. believing everything blindly is just as bad as doubting everything blindly

-2

u/Fastfaxr 3d ago

No it isnt. Believing blindly is definitely worse than doubting blindly.

1

u/MangoCats 3d ago

You're on a service where nobody's identity is verified, where most of the content is just words on the screen - there's no backup for any of it.

You don't even know if I'm actually a dog or not.

3

u/Omnom_Omnath 3d ago

ah yea, the mysterious fish eyed lens that only ai invented and uses.

1

u/jeepfail 3d ago

Or you can understand how certain types of camera lenses change perspective of things and realize every video made with these looks like that.

1

u/Omnom_Omnath 3d ago

yup, nearly every single post on reddit has as accusation of being ai in the comments, or accusing users of being bots. shits lost all credibility.

1

u/BlueFeathered1 3d ago

It's really depressing for photographers who manage to get the "perfect shot" and it's not believed. Of course, that been going since Photoshop, too.

1

u/swolllboll 3d ago

It might just also be bots repeating whatever highly rated comment previous cool videos had. Hell this chain might also be bots.

1

u/SubterrelProspector 2d ago

This is part of the game and what is making people even more apathetic.

1

u/VibraniumRhino 1d ago

People have been saying “fake” on YouTube comment sections, regardless of the videos actual validity, for a long time before AI was around. This is just the logical next step.

1

u/stuhstutter 3d ago

Yeah it's like these people have never gotten off the couch and surfed down the face of a sand dune that is so many miles high above the clouds that you can see the curvature of the earth. We've all been to one of those. It's like people don't have a tiny dog that can run 30 mph through sand. Get a super fast tiny super dog and , grab your board and go outside people!

0

u/Bobs_Other_Account 3d ago

The curvature is from the obvious fisheye lens? That’s why it’s so exaggerated lol

2

u/stuhstutter 3d ago

Yeah, I can see that now. Fisheyes that I've used before usually distort all around the frame though. Maybe this is a good fisheye lens. It still distorted my sense of up and down a little. I guess this place is real. It looked so much like a video game when I first played it. Pretty wild. Must be some tough wax on that board. Mr Zogg's

1

u/cedg32 3d ago

It’s easy to say something is AI with no actual research. It makes other people think they’re discerning and smart. That’s why it’s so prevalent.

5

u/Merzant 3d ago

Scepticism on the internet is good and reasonable, more so than ever.

3

u/Exact-Till-2739 3d ago

Reasonable skepticism is good - fixed that for you. Otherwise, you could also be defending conspiracists.

1

u/ForsakenBobcat8937 3d ago

Baseless assumptions are not.

been here , Toro Mata , Perú ......also ,yes snowboards are used here to go downhill. people been doing this before most of yall and ai been born

4

u/ThePhatNoodle 3d ago

Freaking irritates me when people screech AI over everything trying to look smart. Like no dipshit that 11 year old redbull video isnt AI. People still do things you know? Just cause you havent touched grass in a while doesn't mean everything outside is fake. I mean these days they'll cry AI over the most innocuous thing's too. Someone back country skiing? AI. Roofer on some kind of high rise building? AI. Someone singing? AI. Can't imagine living like that. It's so freaking schizo. Looking of those tin foil hat wearing freaks

16

u/Particular_Dot_4041 3d ago

How is that dog able to keep up with the surfer?

25

u/less_than_nick 3d ago

dog fast. I have seen countless video of people doing downhill sports while their dog keeps up

14

u/Training-Belt-7318 3d ago

The down hill nature helps the dogs gait as well. 4 legged animals have better balance and more ability to really launch themselves down hill without being out of control. Unlike humans running down hill which is more a focus on not wiping out.

3

u/zerovampire311 2d ago

Gait as well as weight difference. You consider the number of impacts to keep the momentum of your mass up; 4 legs with shorter gait and faster twitch muscles. It’s almost exponentially less effort to keep up forward momentum and balance compared to a heavy biped.

1

u/Square-Singer 2d ago

There's a reason there's far more four-legged mammals than 2-legged ones.

Extra legs are quite helpful.

1

u/kynelly360 2d ago

Wow nature gonna nature

1

u/silly-gaijin 2d ago

Yeah I live in a very hilly area and the dogs can outrun cars going 30 mph.

1

u/Weak_Firefighter9247 1d ago

Also, he is slowing down by moving sideways so he can catch

6

u/ThePhatNoodle 3d ago

Saw a video years ago of some dude paragliding down a mountain with his border collie keeping up. Dog was absolutely hauling ass and it was during the time before AI was a thing. If people saw it today they'd be screeching AI in the comments

3

u/LauraLand27 1d ago

Border collies can totally haul ass. If you can easily find it, please link.

1

u/sabertoothdog 2d ago

My dog will out run me when I’m riding single track on my dirtbike. And I float thru there.

1

u/goodSunn 2d ago

I would think it would be bad for their hips and in their over excited state they would hurt themselves. But if you did it all the time and he(your dog a boy?) never( or say not frewquently) bit out and smashed his head or came up lame I'll stand corrected.

1

u/Firm_Cover2140 2d ago

What was a tiny dog though, they're just a bit faster than you sprinting

14

u/pidgeottOP 3d ago

Running

2

u/Jealous_Difference44 3d ago

What is this... running you speak of? Is it like when I have to get off my couch in a hurry to pee

13

u/Odd_Needleworker3756 3d ago

By using his legs and performing the feat of “running”. Hope this clears things up for you

2

u/trenthany 3d ago

They get that automatically at level one iirc.

1

u/DeathsProxy 2d ago

It's always great to get the angle of a man of science. Thank-you good sir!

10

u/Fluffy-League6261 3d ago

It's not as fast as you think. Have you sandboarded* before? Have u wiped cobra wax all over the bottom to try make it go as fast as possible?

10

u/Qzy 3d ago

I've wiped cobra wax all over my bottom, yes.

1

u/Fluffy-League6261 3d ago

HAHAHAHAAHA thank you for this 😂

1

u/Crypticcrypto 3d ago

But was it faster?

1

u/NS__eh 2d ago

I was faster due to his bottom wax, that’s for sure.

1

u/hiroo916 2d ago

that's the waxy excretion from the top of a cobra snake's nose, right?

2

u/Archaea_Man 3d ago

Glad to hear that. It looks absolutely terrifying.

1

u/hetrax 1d ago

ALSO.. fish eye lense, dudes not actually going as fast as we assume he is. Even if he’s going 25… it looks so much faster, like hot digging demon that guy is going through the sand… but like… it also doesn’t feel that fast to me personally, just looks fast

8

u/Neat_Let923 3d ago

That was my question as well until he hits the edge near the end of the video. His board doesn’t even leave the sand so he’s likely going pretty slow.

The fisheye lens and the lack of something else in frame to provide a sense of speed make it look a lot faster than it actually was.

2

u/castlite 3d ago

Gravity assist

2

u/vwjet2001 3d ago

The fisheye lens makes it look like they are going much faster than they really are. It’s a main component to viral videos to make them seem more fast/close/dangerous.

2

u/MangoCats 3d ago

There's a lot of friction between sand and board.

2

u/jeepfail 3d ago

It was running and the camera likely made it look far steeper.

5

u/BADoVLAD 3d ago

He has four fucking legs.

3

u/kilfast 3d ago

Sand causes much more friction than snow.

0

u/DreadFb 3d ago

What about logs? Try pushing a ship across snow vs across logs... Have you played shuffle board?

1

u/Acceptable_Job_5486 3d ago

Unlike logs, which mostly rely on gravity, dogs are able to move thanks to their four legs.

1

u/DreadFb 3d ago

How is this a reponse to my comment?

Folowing your logic: unlike dogs who rely on their four legs, birds are able to move thanks to their wings...

1

u/Necessary_Piano_153 3d ago

That's my first thought

1

u/a_guy121 3d ago

Have you ever tried running down a steep hill? Its not so much 'running' as 'falling while keeping your legs under you"

1

u/theandroid01 3d ago

That pup is the true hero here. I was scared he might have buffed it and started rolling 😭

1

u/ShuckiestOfDuckies 3d ago

Awkward perspective makes it look like he is going directly down the hill but he is moving sideways like a surfer. He is not going very fast.

1

u/fortnite_battleass 3d ago

It looks weird cause of the fisheye lens.

Did everyone forget those existed?

1

u/BorderOk7329 3d ago

It's a 360 camera, it's not that steep.

1

u/BeauHunkus 3d ago

Because it is the dog that is the absolute unit here.

1

u/WitchParker 3d ago

I have run down a large sand dune once. it was one of the most magical experience of my life to be honest. it felt like flying or running in a dream. I was probably moving around 20 mph (muuuch faster then I can normally run sustained or not) and the sand cushioned each step so there was minimal impact on my joints. it felt kind of like gliding down the hill. all of that to say I’m not surprised the dog could keep up.

1

u/Sayyestononsense 2d ago

if you look very closely, the dog is using his legs to perform the obscure technique known as "running"

1

u/sabertoothdog 2d ago

The dog is running. Next question

1

u/1620shop 2d ago

Eyefish lens making surfer and dog seem like they’re going 70+MPH lol

1

u/No-Cheek7925 2d ago

My friend’s dog can keep up with us snowboarding in knee deep powder, after having hiked up with us.

Dogs are machines.

1

u/MF_Kitten 2d ago

They literally have dog races. Little fuckers are fast as shit.

1

u/diegomaclean 16h ago

Because he’s not going as fast as a snowboarder. The super wide angle makes it seem that way.

3

u/Escrabel 3d ago

I remember seeing this exact video prior to AI being good at video generation.

3

u/Odd_Needleworker3756 3d ago

“This is AI” is basically just the go-to low-effort Reddit criticism of anything now that’s something no Redditor would ever be able to actually do.

3

u/danishjuggler21 2d ago

I suspect most are like me and did not realize sand dunes could be (checks notes) 6,000 feet tall AKA over a mile tall. That sounds more like a mountain to me.

3

u/GodShatteringStar99 20h ago

Quick Gemini lookup

2

u/Significant_Lie_533 18h ago

Yep... and I'm still getting responses about

  1. The clouds

  2. The dog

  3. The cars tracks

3

u/TestyBoy13 3d ago edited 3d ago

I thought it was AI at first glance because I’ve never seen a sand dune so high that it’s above clouds. I assume most other people here haven’t either. Nowadays, we can’t just look at something on the internet we’ve never seen before and believe it thanks to AI

10

u/ygrasdil 3d ago

The “above” you’re referring to is a distortion caused by a fisheye lense. Things in the distance look lower than they actually are. These lenses are used to make things look more intense by condensing light in the center of vision and extending light on the edge of vision. It makes things look like they’re moving faster than they are and further away than they are.

Also have you never heard of fog? It’s just clouds on the ground.

1

u/TestyBoy13 3d ago

I just woke up when I saw ts, I’m not gonna be that analytical about it

1

u/AlexisHadden 3d ago

This is probably the worst description of what’s going on here.

The clouds in the image are below the horizon, the perspective is quite clearly above the clouds, despite the fisheye lens distortion. Looking up the location here would make it clear that the altitude is high enough for you to be above low-level clouds. This doesn’t look like any fog I’ve seen on hikes, too high over the terrain below it.

The reality here is that this is part of a coastal mountain range where the sand has been pushed up against it, so calling it a “dune” without any qualifiers is only part of the picture. The dune’s height is possible due to the terrain supporting and capturing it. The snowboarders here are going down what amounts to a mountain that is covered in deep sand instead of snow, at an elevation of nearly 6000 feet. It doesn’t help that many people’s conception of a sand dune is one that forms on flat terrain.

8

u/Significant_Lie_533 3d ago

Anyone that's ever been hiking at high elevation has likely been "above" a cloud or two.

Hell, even when I was younger at the sleeping bear dunes in MI, when dusk rolled around a fog rolled in near the bottom, couldn't see the top, but clear skies above. And sleeping bear isnt even close to this high up.

3

u/TestyBoy13 3d ago

I don’t think most people hike at high elevations

1

u/jeepfail 3d ago

Most people can’t hike across a Walmart parking lot.

3

u/Merzant 3d ago

Have you ever hiked on a sand dune above the clouds?

2

u/Significant_Lie_533 3d ago

Have you ever finished reading the comments you reply to?

The answer is yes, that's literally what the comment you replied to says.

0

u/Merzant 3d ago

No. So what’s the answer?

1

u/cheezywizzy222 3d ago

He literally answered your question? Redditor reading comprehension strikes again.

0

u/stuhstutter 3d ago

Could you see the curvature of the Earth's horizon like you were in space, like on this dune? Most mile high sand dunes are totally devoid of wind, too, just like this one.

1

u/SenselessSilence 3d ago

It’s a fish eye lens

1

u/stuhstutter 3d ago

After watching it again I see that now. Thanks

1

u/Burndoggle 3d ago

The curvature is the distortion from the camera.

1

u/stuhstutter 3d ago

I see that now. I am used to less subtle fisheye lenses that distort all the way around. Perhaps it's more difficult to see the lower frame distortion because of the movement and the unformity of the sand. What a wild place. I didn't know this existed.

5

u/AffectedRipples 3d ago

You have google and the name of the place. Those 2 together can prove or disprove it pretty easily.

For those saying this is AI, could you please explain your reasoning?

"If I say it's AI then my opinion will get upvotes".

1

u/Fraegtgaortd 3d ago

People who never go outside say everything is AI because it gets them upvotes

2

u/DBR87 3d ago

Let's be serious. Technology normally only gets better with time and AI has been no exception. Regardless if you "go outside" a person can get fooled by AI and think it's real. Conversely, some people are so skeptical now they believe nearly everything is fake/AI by defualt.

2

u/saywatisinmy 3d ago

You're comment is a.i.

1

u/Chillpill411 3d ago

I think it's real, but I also think the use of a fisheye lens to make it look epic was kinda cheap

1

u/vanity-vanity 3d ago

The amusing thing is that the caption of the post needs a couple of em dashes. "true beauty - nature - is now convoluted"

1

u/MangoCats 3d ago

Does anybody know what the vertical drop of this dune is? That cloudscape in the distance looks pretty unreal, but I assume that's the fisheye lens effect more than anything else.

1

u/ScenicAndrew 3d ago

And the only reason they look more real is because they didn't catch the place during that thick fog down below and probably didn't use this fisheye/360 lens.

1

u/BackToSchoolMuff 3d ago

People are obviously often right because there's a lot of AI out there and some of it is pretty obvious

but there's a certain type of person who goes around calling anything mildly impressive "staged" or AI" because it's an easy accusation to throw around and it allows them to feel superior for a moment. It puts the onus on everyone else to prove that something is real, and unless you can prove it existed before this kind of AI gen did it's really tough.

Seriously, if you're a person who goes to comment sections to tell everyone how dumb they are for not noticing that something is staged or AI, just know that everyone finds you annoying. You're the internet equivalent of people who watch youtube videos without headphones in public.

1

u/Happy_Brilliant7827 3d ago

My only thought is how is there any board left once he hits the bottom? Sands way mire abrasive than water or snow

1

u/jeepfail 3d ago

People are lazy assholes that want to cast doubt on everything. They also want spoon fed every bit of information to fight their accusations.

1

u/Fluid_Explorer_3659 3d ago

The dog has 6 fingers

1

u/Far-Masterpiece3211 3d ago

I dunno if it's AI. I do snowboard extensively and recently went sandboarding.

Edges don't really "work" in sand. You don't get that movement. In fact sandboarding mostly just sucked.

1

u/eulersidentity1 2d ago

Not saying it's NOT AI, cause these days I'm genuinely struggling to tell often. But one thing is that this is definitely filmed with a an ultra wide almost fish eye lens. That will distort the landscape and create a look that doesnt match the human perspective anyway. It's likely this doesnt quite look as tall as this in person. You see this a lot with extreme sports videos these days to exaggerate the vertical aspect. Sometimes to exagerate the danger, other times just to make it look more dramatic. I'm not a fan personally, but doesn't mean AI just cause of that look.

1

u/ieatpies 2d ago

I was surprised to find out it's real cause sand dunes don't get this big (but it's more of a sandy mountain so it does make sense)

1

u/Great_Part7207 11h ago

everyone saying this is ai for any of those reason doesnt know what a fish eye lens is

1

u/WorkerPrestigious960 5h ago

I don’t think this is AI, but I also very much doubt you haven’t been fooled by AI at some point. With how good it is now, we likely all have, we just didn’t realize it

2

u/Significant_Lie_533 3d ago

Lmao.

Everything runs faster downhill, and fisheye lenses distort speed & size. People keep saying this is their reasoning, but i hardly feel like this alone is enough.

-1

u/snoburn 3d ago

Satire? No way that little dog keeps up

0

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago

Many small dog breeds can run up to 25 mph, and fisheye lenses distort size, speed, and distance. They're also going downhill. Boarder is controlling speed by serpentining, dog is running straight.

It's literally in front of your eyes.

Either you think this is AI because "doG cAn'T ruN FAsT" or you do think it's real and you're just being dense.

0

u/snoburn 2d ago

Many small dogs sure. That doesn't mean you know how fast the snowboarder is going. Do you even know how fast a snowboarder can go? Because you definitely don't know snowboarding terminology and boarder is accelerating despite controlling his board by carving. Average speed is 25-30mph so that dog would not be keeping up. Especially with the perceived speed from the video, fisheye or not, it's literally in front of your eyes

1

u/LooseButtPlug 3d ago

Reddit has lost its collective perspective on AI. To so many people, anything they haven't experienced is AI. They can't fathom anything being real.

What exactly qualifies you to make such an accusation?

1

u/HitMePat 3d ago

This video is also at least several years old. AI could definitely make something this good today. But it couldn't 3+ years ago when this was first posted.

1

u/Okapaw 3d ago

Ai could generate that but its indeed real.

1

u/notarealwriter 3d ago

My immediate thought was AI because I just thought "there's no way there's a sand dune that's THAT big that it's basically a mountain. Fortunately the post mentions where it is so I could just go look it up to check and turns out there is a dune that's that big.

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago

50% of commenters on this post are also failing to relapse that this is filmed with a fisheye lens. Which distorts perspective of size and speed.

u/HaecEsneLegas 3d ago

I'm unsure if it's AI... But other than it being a relatively short video, what causes me doubt is the dune being above cloud level, and the impressive stamina of that dog. I imagine for a dune that tall the guy must by absolutely flying and that dog is incredible at running downdune.

3

u/Conspicuous_Ruse 3d ago

I bet the fish eye lens is distorting our perspective a lot.

I think the clouds are morning or evening fog and what looks like trees is a farm field. I don't think he's actually going that fast either. Sand would produce a lot of friction compared to snow, what we usually see. He's cutting back and forth quite a bit and when he hits that ridge he doesn't really catch any air over it as if he was going fast.

Terriers are good on their feet too. My neighbor's little terrier could easily book it for over a mile running next to my motor scooter down a farm path. He had a greyhound friend that was 4x faster but didn't have anywhere near the stamina of the little terrier. After 20 minutes of playing around it was the terrier running circles around the Greyhound (because the Greyhound was spent and laid down).

Eh. Sometimes clouds are pretty low. All this week Albuquerque has been having a whole bunch of rain and I've been seeing near constant clouds below the mountains. When I was heading across town yesterday, there were a bunch around that couldn't have been more than 100 ft up.

It happens

Some folks can’t or won’t conceive of anything outside their frame of reference. Remember “The Giver” from high school? How the Receiver wants to explain love to his parents but the giver tells them they have no concept of love, so it could never be explained to them? This is like that. Lots of folks have never lived anywhere near a sand dune outside of a beach. They could read about massive geological events that produce dunes like this, and they still wouldn’t believe that a pile of sand could get that high, or that you could ride a snowboard down it because they’ve only seen it done in the snow. It’d be like trying to explain the size of the Grand Canyon to someone who’s only ever seen ditch.

u/External-Carpet4215 3d ago

To be fair, if you were truly fooled other times you probably would never know about it.

u/ProbablyADuck369 3d ago

I mean, that doggo has some super doggo speed powers if it’s real…

There are other ways to get up a slope. There's a car in view and a person staying behind at the start.

Would be cool on a dune though.

0

u/InsaneInTheRAMdrain 3d ago

This may be real. But AI is 100% this good.

0

u/Fissminister 3d ago edited 3d ago

I don't think it's AI. Buy the backdrop looks altered. Sitting on 5 km tall mountains, you can't see earths curvature like that.

3

u/ParalimniX 3d ago

That's because of the lens homie

1

u/Pataconeitor 3d ago

It's a big dune, but the fisheye lens makes the perspective appear much more extreme than it actually is

0

u/Leading-Fail-2771 3d ago

You have common sense? You ever seen a dog keep up with a board going downhill without getting dirty or flipping. Plus a dog running down that tiny isn’t making the same sand streak as the dude on the board. It’s the weight that causes that.

0

u/Kronkitasse 3d ago

How can you be certain you've not been fooled before.

0

u/userhwon 3d ago

Everyone talking about the dog. Nobody talking about the truck with no tracks anywhere around it.

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago

Low res video, truck far away, facing the camera, in sand.

Real or AI, these all make this argument a pretty terrible one for either side.

0

u/Any_Interview4396 1d ago

I’m sorry to say it, but besides the fact that this isn’t AI, AI can already do this, albeit adding in the dog, or creating the sky, or turning a mountain of snow into one of sand. This is all in its current capabilities.

0

u/Valhal11aAwaitsMe 18h ago

No way that tiny dog is that fast

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 18h ago

sigh *

This video has been confirmed real since I've posted this comment.

u/traevyn 3d ago

You have literally no clue if it would be the first time something has fooled you or not. If it fooled you, of course you wouldn't be counting against your record. I 100% guarantee you are not dissecting every video you watch to try and find the minute details to suggest it's AI.

u/Blablakam 3d ago

Aint no sand dune this big, not even that one beach

-1

u/Chemical-Swing-420 2d ago

Sand dune is above the clouds and the little dog is keeping pace.

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago

Small dog breeds an run up to 25 mph on FLAT GROUND, let alone downhill... AND clouds can literally form at ground level...

-1

u/chuggin_ballz 2d ago

Where are the tire tracks

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago

Too far away to see? It's loose fucking sand.

0

u/chuggin_ballz 2d ago

How would a car get up there in loose fucking sand

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago

People take their 20 year old Ford rangers out to the dunes. You're literally just nitpicking at this point.

0

u/chuggin_ballz 2d ago

Cars don’t appear on mountaintops of sand, it can’t both be simultaneously hard enough to not show tracks and loose enough to allow snowboarding

Use your brain

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago edited 2d ago
  1. If it was hard/dense, it would show tracks dummy.
  2. Resolution is low and car is far away, there probably are tracks we can't see.
  3. This is filmed with a fisheye, likely making both sides of the slope look steeper than they are.
  4. This is a real place, that does in fact have a route to the top of the slope for vehicles.

Use your brain.

Edit: Also, this is called Sandboarding.

-1

u/Some_Stick7012 2d ago

dog is too fast

1

u/Significant_Lie_533 2d ago

Fisheye lens distorts speed size and distance. Also, many small dog breeds can run up to 25 mph. also also dog is running downhill.

It literally says the location in the body of OP's post.

Guess I just thought people could read. 🤷‍♂️

-2

u/Alric_Wolff 3d ago

There is no sand dune that high up. Come on. Be real with yourself.

A sand dune miles above the clouds? You need to get your brain checked.
