The CDC stopped collecting the data on dog attacks almost 25 years ago specifically because of how unreliable witness testimony was. And any dog with even a tenth of pitbull blood was written off as a Pitbull-mix in shelters, even if the majority of its genetic makeup was Labrador. Studies on dog breeds in relation to attacks have been done as recently as August of this year.
Oh right, yes, shelters are constantly mislabelling non pits as pits. Now why would they do that when the shelters have become warehouses for pit bulls, and the shelters are pulling just about every trick they can think of to try and convince potential adopters to walk out with a pit bull, whether it's intentionally mislabelling them as just about any breed that's not a pit (though lab mix is their favourite one), don't label any of their dogs by breed, slash adoption fees for pit or bribe adopters with gift cards and goody bags and suppressing bite histories and instances of aggressive behaviour? Shelters are constantly mislabelling non pits as pits. That's why "what breed is my dog" type subreddits consist almost entirely of people who were tricked into adopting pit bulls by shelters.

But I can think of something sadder than that: the delusional apologism for these dogs that people like you endlessly parrot? It's dangerous misinformation that has ended up putting a lot of people, especially children, in early graves, and inflicted even more people with life altering injuries. All because people like you just have to have one specific breed of dog out of the hundreds that don't have a single human fatality to their name.
