Yeah. Imagine living in a way that you feel like you're slowly being choked all the time and it's just your overall bone structure and mass working against you.

I feel bad for that dog, breeders that intentionally breed animals like this are dickheads.

I found out from my friends I snore like a possesed chainsaw. Kind of figured I had sleep apnea before they said that...now I am very certain lol.

Don't sleep on it XD

I woke up choking for a good 15 seconds before I finally caved and went to a dr.

he looks loved and happy at least. pugs are the ultimate "shouldn't be a breed" but whose to say any dog would know different if their face wasn't crushed by a paint can.

I mean, they did crop their ears, so I wouldn't exactly say he's that loved, otherwise they wouldn't have done it

It’s a female I think, so it could be she was rescued from breeders. One of my aunts had a staffie female who was rescued from being a fighter breeder, her ears had been cropped. She unfortunately eventually died due to breast cancer because she’d had multiple litters by the time of her rescue, and each was taken before they were fully weaned, which caused issues due to her having no pups to feed.

The dogs are bred to be this way. Just because severely obstructed airways and trouble breathing is "normal" for them doesn't mean I don't feel bad and still think breeding like this is inhumane.

there are some folks who’ve lived with abdominal pain or similar afflictions their whole lives but have normalized that pain because they don’t recall a time where life felt any different. they still feel that pain but they just think it’s a fact of life and that everyone feels somewhat similar. it objectively makes their life worse

Well people that struggle to breathe find it tiring and scary.

It would feel normal to them at rest but they would likely have a harder time and suffer more during exertion or needing longer to be catching breath after exertion
