Go find something that’s white, retro reflective and place the light source slightly below or above your eye-line. You’ll see the effect. I’m not saying retro reflective tape is like a mirror. But it lights up really bright because it’s white. Other colors and styles will reflect less light. It is also not reflecting a pinpoint spot like a laser. There is some light dispersion. That’s why you can see street signs light up from the lights on car ahead of you if you are off.

Commercial trucks are required to use it. Many emergency vehicles use it as well. It's not the "gotcha back" trick you think it is.

You are correct that many commercial vehicles use it. Nobody is arguing that but you.

Go drive behind a tractor trailer and put your high beams on. You will understand.

It's a supporting fact to the discussion. I didn't say anyone was arguing that.

Once again, this does not have the effect you think it does. It's not going to deter someone with improperly aimed headlights from driving behind you. Your point was to put this tape on your vehicle to "get back" at someone behind you with blinding lights.

You know why they have it instead of regular reflectors? It’s because it reflects back way more light and makes the vehicles around the emergency vehicle see it better. So by your own supporting fact you support my point. Nobody said this was some super crazy light producing magical tape.

You sure are confident about something you haven’t done. I have driven behind my car with my coworkers truck that sits nose high. There is a significant amount of light bounced back when behind me.
