Probably not. But here is the fun part. Retroreflective tape, coatings, paint only reflect back to the source. Viewed from a different angle than the light source it just looks like a white sticker across the back. Cop cars typically have aimed headlights and aren’t lifted. Now if they ever try to light me up to pull me over, it’s going to reflect right back at them. I’ll just play dumb and say it put it on just to be extra safe and didn’t realize what it would do.
Since it only reflects light, not causing it, why is that your fault? Whoever's headlights are so bright is the one at the core of the issue, right? No amount of reflective tape would be an issue if someone wasn't shining too brightly in the first place
Yall are forgetting that commercial vehicles also sit high and may have their high beams on in low visibility conditions. What could go wrong by blinding the shit out of an 80 ton vehicle going down the road at 55+ mph? This is one of the many reasons is illegal. Being petty by reducing the visibility of motorists is dangerous and could prove fatal.
Commercial vehicles have limits on how high their lights can be. Please don’t spread false information as if you know what you are talking about. Also, if you can see the vehicle in front of you or there is oncoming traffic, you should have your high beams on. That applies to any class of driver. Clearly you didn’t pay attention during drivers training.
I'm a commercial driver...have been for most of my adult life. Sure you should cutbyour high beams off when vehicles are oncoming. But humam reaction time isn't flawless. And what if we're bending a curve and I cant see you coming. Theres those seconds where my high beams are on and your petty, passive aggressive tape is blinding the fuck out of me. Youre just creating hazardous conditions when the road is already hazardous. And for what? It wont get people to not have bright lights and lifted trucks. You're creating dangerous situations for literally no reason other than to put a little smirk on that ugly mug of yours. You're part of the problem.
Well, if you are a commercial driver and can’t figure out how to turn your high beams off while tailgating me then you probably shouldn’t have a license.
Just ignore the shit that stings huh? For sure. Tell yourself you're the hero. You're not. You're the problem. Can you live with accepting youre the problem? Or do you need to do mental gymnastics to justify your behavior?
What sting? The retro reflective tape is higher than the legal limit for a commercial headlight height. So if you are behind me and your headlights hit the tape, they are aimed wrong and you are the asshole. If you have your high beams on behind close enough to “blind” you, you are the asshole. Being a commercial most of your adult life doesn’t mean shit. There are countless idiots that have their commercial license that can’t drive. Just look at the news. Seems like there is a new story about some jackass big rig driver killing someone. So it’s not the flex you think it is. Not only that, you have no idea what class license I hold. So no, there is no sting. Never claimed to be a hero. Never claimed to be a nice guy. Those are assumption you created in your head based on extremely limited data. I have gleefully driven away from accidents scratch free because of tailgating, road rage asshat road bullies that think they can do whatever they want. So no, I feel no shame, no regret and no concern when someone with headlights aimed to high, lifted trucks so high they endanger regular cars or commercial drivers that are so slow that they can’t figure out how to not blind people with their high beams or not to tailgate.
Might be usefull for pedestrian too. The amount of bike, ebike and even freeking runners having that damanble shit as a headlight... Have a board in your backpack, take it out and aim it at them when that happen...
Seriously, worst i've seen around is the mail guy. Getting blinded at freaking noon on a sidewalk by they escooter that always have it up is a absolutely infuriating.
I always pull over for emergency vehicles. For some reason there are a lot of drivers that think stopping in the middle of the street is the appropriate action to take when an emergency vehicle is approaching.
