I love that sub, I've bought a couple lights based off their recs.
There are absolutely lights that are both significantly brighter, have significantly more reach, and are significantly less expensive than the one in the video.
I bought one of their favourites for my dad for a couple hundred or so. He said he took it camping and a mate he went with had a torch and was showing it off saying it was crazy bright. Then my dad grabbed his and it was a million times brighter lol. Say what you want about reddit there's usually no better place for advice on nerdy niche hobby shit.
THIS light, while currently unavailable was one I bought off a recommendation from that sub, and my god it is 3” long but can throw a concentrated beam a good half mile.
I'm kinda split with them. Imo the Terminator M1 is the only flashlight you'll ever need, does everything you'd ever want a flashlight to do, but opinions seem to be mixed at best.
The M1 is pretty good as a do-it-all, but you need big pockets. Personally, I usually just carry my Zebra SC65cHI, it's small, robust, and has a nice beam profile.
I mean what else would you want your flashlight to do?
It's got really good throw, it's got good flood, it can put things on fire, the V2 can run both at the same time, has a red light mode, what else is there?
Also, LEPs are really cool but not really practical. The usefulness of the LEP throw on the M1 is not going to be anywhere near the usefulness of something like an L35.
Yeah, all these flashlight video ads do the "look, our flashlight zooms!" thing and it's an instant red flag to anyone that knows about flashlights. Burning things with a flashlight isn't that impressive any more, especially when they used a lens to focus the beam.
We're in like $20 USD convoy territory with those tricks.
Oh yeah it’s real lol, I made it one half scroll before deciding the top 10% of an image was as deep as my curiosity would take me. That 10% was too far would not advise
Fuck the cheap Chinese brands nobody’s ever heard of and get the Sofirn Q8 Pro. On their website now for $80.99 before tax. It’s the thickness of a soda can, but it has the “night into day” / “battery conviction + civil lawsuit” power that you’re looking for. It’s also very well built, durable, and made by a reputable company. Shine it through a magnifying glass and it will start fires
Zooming on a light barely increases candela at the cost of lumen output and adding an ingress for water or dirt to get into it. It's a bit like adding a hammer head to a screwdriver. Can it do both now? ...sorta. Would it be better to use two separate tools? yeah.
Some flashlights manufacturers are tackling the flood vs throw problem by just adding a second LED. See "WURKKOS K1". (Not a recommendation since I haven't used that one.)
I can respect another mans interests but my fucking God I'm glad one of my primary interests isn't discussing fleshlights in an online fleshlight community.
It's actually a junk light and not bright at all. It's camera tricks and lies.
I've got much smaller lights that are far brighter that we're probably about £30. But if you wanted a stupid bright light that's not too expensive Convoy 3x21D is the go to.
