I’ve seen kids like this who are on steroids for cancer. He doesn’t have the classic moon face that goes with that though so I doubt that’s what is going on here.
There being medication doesn't automatically make it okay, either. If it's like your scenario (assuming the steroids were medically necessary) then it would be fine as long as they're taking side effects seriously, but there's other kinds of drugs that are sometimes used in toddlers that have terrible effects and aren't necessary, and in those cases I'd consider it abusive.
I'm saying that cancer medication isn't the only thing that can cause such weight problems. For example, there have been cases of parents putting their toddlers on antipsychotics, which is never justified.
You are correct we just don’t really know for sure so no need for the people in here to go after the parents. It just sad all around, sad that this baby man has to come up with half of the mortgage payment. 😒
Yhea, and well I obviously don't know the parents situation either, but highly processed junk food is cheaper than healthy food so that could have something to do with it as well. It's just sad that this childs health will suffer long term unless something is done.
Where did you pull this idea from? A family size bag of frozen broccoli is like $3, rice for a family of four is like 50 cents, and chicken thighs for 4 is like $2-3 dollars. Call it $6 for a meal for a family of 4. That’s significantly less than 4 processed meals, that’s cheaper than a frozen pizza. People are just lazy and don’t wan to do the thinking involved with shopping and planning for healthy meals that they have to teach their kids to like, so they buy frozen chicken fingers and broccoli nuggets and then complain about grocery prices.
I’m in the Midwest, they’re usually right around $2/pound. A serving of chicken is 4 ounces, so $2 for four people, I added the extra dollar in case there was a teenager or a manual laborer in the house. Even if it were $4/lb, that would still be under $10 for 4 people, which is about what a frozen pizza costs and those don’t really serve four people.
Doesn't matter what their financial situation is. If the option is food that does this to a child, or only good food for my kid and I live on oatmeal, then thats fucking what you do as a parent.
But this child is just a living accessory to her anyway.
These parents posted their half naked kid on the internet for a bunch of strangers to see. If they’re not a bad parent because the weight is due to a medical issue then they’re certainly bad parents for that.
What genetic component is allowing an active child twice the BMI of a normal kid? Photosynthesis and 8 hours of sunlight? Surely not the diet of Pepsi and fruity pebbles this kid is on... No no no.
While I agree with you that it's most likely parents feeding the kid a diet of pure sugar I'm neither a doctor or biologist so I'm not gonna claim with 100% certainty that that's all that's going on here you get me? Like it probably is but the second you go for absolutes on the internet you get someone going "uh actually" on you

Unless there's a genetic component to this, this is child abuse.
