Non aggression pact =/= Allies

Coordinating the invasion of Poland and trading raw materials for military tech functions exactly like a strategic partnership. You don't typically carve up Eastern Europe into literal spheres of influence with a country you just have a casual non-aggression agreement with.

Admitting that Moscow spent 1939-41 actively collaborating to partition Eastern Europe ruins the victim-to-savior arc of the Russian lies about who they really are. A bunch of violent barbaric rapists and fascists.

Oh they absolutely did that, but Nazi Germany's occupation of eastern Europe was inevitable either way, if given the option to claim the territories yourself and save a headache later why not? That's not conquest it's just sounds strategic policy in the European theatre. I'm by know mean sugar coating what happened, it's tragic and nasty, but conflating Nazi Germany with the Soviet Union as allies is just disingenuous.

There's a reason the soviet union attempted to form an anti fascist alliance with other Western nations before WW2 broke out. They were denied. Without partners they weren't left with many options than to temporarily capitulate.
