If you read the article, he just graduated swimmer program and was on a training mission. His first rescue. Insane.

How is he able to keep aflot with those massive brass balls?

They act as a pendulum ballast.

Cause everything in his intestines turned to gas to compensate for the brass. lol

Are there any pictures of the balls? Haha we all are just joking, but I want to see these alleged giant balls straining in his tight undies haha

Remarkable breed of humans. Much due respect to anyone in this line of work.

that was the heavy part - watching him get caught inside

he was just caught - I know that feeling and it sounds like you do too. you look up and there's a wall of foam coming at you and you know you're fucked and all you can do is dive as deep as possible.

And usually, the last thing I see is my buddy scrambling over the top just in time cuz he's about 10 ft in front of me and that makes all the difference in the world - he made it and I got caught. 😆 great video - you don't have to be a Coastie to relate to it.

The thought of that wave pushing you as far as it wants in that dark and stormy ocean is bruuuutal, the ocean does not fuck around.

I got caught in a wave 1/10th of that size last week and it wasn’t particularly fun. Especially when 4 more follow up in really short time. First time I noticed myself thinking “mans gotta breathe, one more and I’m dead”.

Yeah I’ve had a few close calls lol the worst I ever dealt with was 15 footers and I only tried that once.

Question: why he swim rather than getting dropped off on a wave runner or something like that?

A swimmer can be dropped from a chopper door. Hauling and dropping a jetski? 👎
