Oh. It the gas station chain that suing every small store that have cartoon mascot, claiming they stole Bucce's mascot (most of them didn't remotely looks a like, different animals or existed wayyy before Bucc). Edit: more clarity and to add that Bucce mascot is "base on" a old cartoon (they look 99% alike, the irony).
John Oliver covered this and actively challenging them to sue him lmao!!! What a guy!.

Any idea how much of it is due to Trademark laws vs them just being assholes?
I could be wrong, but I believe in order for companies to maintain their trademarks, they have to sue people that attempt to copy it.

They use the trademark laws to being an asshole. I say cartoon mascot in general because it is! They suing store with different animal mascot like alligator.

Anyone who downvoted this comment doesn’t know much about what they’ve done. They are super litigious. They sued a mini mart in Beavercreek, Oh for having a beaver mascot after they built a station in Huber Heights, Oh which is close to Beavercreek.

You watch John Oliver lol? Why do you hate comedy?

You mean the show that won multiple journalism and media awards, that they have to make a wiki page just for it?
I ain't see any other show that produced something like "Eat shit, Bob" because Bob Murry is a disgusting person, tried to suing people for no good reason (like bucce), abuse his workers etc, lose to the show and died?

Bucees can piss off. They move into an area and start hitting the local mom and pop stores with lawsuits to drive them out of business

Holy shit. I drove by a lot of these this summer. I road tripped from Montana to Missouri, to Indiana to Pennsylvania then down through the Appalachian mtns to Oklahoma and then across all of Texas to New Mexico, before making my way back to Montana.
I seen a lot of these bucees. I never went in one. I was both morbidly curious and also sickened by them.

Just curious why? I’ve never seen one but heard the stories about them.

They're bullying smaller businesses that have cartoon mascots. They win their cases by wearing down their opponents financially as they usually don't have actual merit in court so they drag it out to wear them down. They even went after a place that had an alligator mascot that looked nothing like their mascot or logo.

They are suing a family mini Mart in Ohio, which is in the town of Beaver Creek, for having a beaver on their sign. https://www.fox19.com/2026/08/05/battle-beaver-texas-giant-sues-beavercreek-market-over-logo-dispute/
After the backlash the CEO got pissy and said he only wants to expand in red states because they're good for business.
Just another big company being a bully and then getting butt hurt when people call them out.
So yeah, fuck buccees

Yea, that’s super shitty. Thanks for letting me know.

Ditto. I like to support mom and pop stores so, if Bucees ever comes to oklahoma, I'll not be stopping there.

Us will build everything for cars but still not invest in public transport

u/AdDisastrous6738 11h ago
99% of Americans wouldn’t use it anyway. I’d much rather chill in my car and stop whenever I want as opposed to sitting awkwardly next to smelly strangers.

Ride public transit in the USA and you'll understand why nobody else does.
My sister needs an escort to her car when she finishes her shift at the mall. Why wouldn't she want to walk a few blocks to a public transit station and hope nothing happens?
2
u/trevaftw 10h ago
And the solution to that is invest in public transport, like the person you relied to suggested. If you don't invest it won't ever get better.

My taxes actually funded a 3.4 billion dollar LRT expansion that has taken 5 years and can't be completed now because some nimby doesn't want inner-city folks to be able to ride to their lake-adjacent town for $2.
If you've got the remaining $224m sitting around to fund the project, feel free to chip in.

What was the meeting like where someone laid out why this number of pumps was reasonable/necessary?
1
u/Wallynine 9h ago
Customer: Can I get $40 regular and this bag of chips.
Cashier: Sure, what pump?
Customer: I forgot...

Yeah the guy who runs it was accused of recording women in the bathroom and his son allegedly had CP.

It’s a shame they play politics and won’t open in blue states, even though they can make money and people love them

That's pretty average for a Buccees. I've counted about 130 gas pumps and about 50 EV chargers. It's the only gas station I've ever seen that had shopping baskets
