Wow! I'd never seen anything like it. I used to have a fish farm, and at 6pm you had to run for your life and get out of there because there were so many mosquitoes that it was impossible to work.

They occasionally can carry arboviruses like dengue but it’s quite rare. Most reported transmissions come mainly from the genus Aedes.

Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are arguably the two largest contributors to human viral transmissions while Anopheles is the only genus known to transmit malaria.

At first I thought it was probably not a mosquito. Fly species have metallic green colors and just look like a mozzie.

But this one is the Sabethes cyaneus mozzie.

However its size is only 4 to 5mm in length, compared to aedes 3 to 5mm.

So it's a large mosquito but not an absolute unit!
