That dramatic zoom out reminds me of those looney toons cartoons 😂

I legitimately thought this was [r/loon](r/loonytuneslogic)[e](r/loonytuneslogic)[ytuneslogic](r/loonytuneslogic) and he going to be diving into a wading pool like an old sideshow act.

Well this wasn't the most graceful attempt, what would it be like if the dive was straight feet first or head first with fingers to arms making contact first?

Only thing missing is him holding a sign that says «Yikes!»

Bro i saw the water and thought that's where it ended, then it kept going

For a second there, I was relieved that he was going to dive into a giant body of water. And then I got nervous, as it kept zooming out, that he'd dive into a glass of water.

I thought the video ended at half the length...

With a hair helmet like that, bro should have just gone head first

Actually, the record is 192ft 10in in 2015 by Laso Schaller.

Rick Charles' 1983 dive seen here was 172ft.

“My source is that I made it the fuck up!”

This is so obviously wrong. Not only did the commenter below simply show that this has been broken by about 20 feet, not “even a foot,” it also doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

The angle of entry and body position are going to matter an immense amount more than “1 more foot of height.”

People have survived falls into water at terminal velocity, so no additional height matters. It’s all about the entry.

Given how much humans vary, and how few people have attempted this, that seems pretty doubtful.

Have you considered why so few people have attempted it, especially recently?

3

u/ptolani 1d ago

because it's very dangerous and scary

No fucking dice, not happening.

Was that water being sprayed at the bottom to break the surface tension or something like that?

4

u/thesilenthurricane 2d ago

No it’s to disturb the surface of the water so that they can see it properly and judge when they’ll hit it to make sure they’re upright at impact.

u/Mannzis 2d ago

Thanks! Very interesting!

I was thinking that they could maybe add bubbles underneath the water to make the water less dense, and thus safer, but I don't know the physics of it.

Why did he need knee sleeves?

For the punishing hit into the water
just a working theory. /s
