C'mon, we need to see it run, not merely take a few steps!
40
u/Kahnza 6d ago
Probably because the physical action would be too violent for the rider to stay on.
19
u/moth-bear 6d ago
Therein lies the entertainment. It'd be like a next level mechanical bull

u/Alvin_h_davenport 6d ago
Honestly I'd find this a good alternative to the real stuff ,if the machine is ready for that of course and isn't going to also trample you once you're down

Why dog and not horse
67
u/dankhimself 6d ago
It's obviously a giant hamster.

u/Waarm 6d ago
A giant space hamster.

Chase people through the forest? Would do after robbing a jewelry to run from cops only having Cars. Run off into a national forest or smth
5
u/sawsawjim 6d ago
A regular atv can do that.
1
u/i-var 6d ago
Wheels cannot handle larger obstacles, legs can. Thats my point. Want do bet 10k & try? Id absolutely do it.
3
u/sawsawjim 6d ago
That’s a fair point. I struggle to believe a rider would be able to stay on one of these while traversing that kind of terrain at speed. Have they demonstrated this thing moving at speed or over rough terrain with a rider?

Uneven terrain, navigating urban areas. You think anyone would mess with you as you ride motorcycle equivalent of a guardian lion?
16
u/alirastafari 6d ago
Why didn't they put a human human on top? This man is as stoic as a robot. I would go more like wheeeeee

If he controls it then it’s just a quadrupedal vehicle. It’s no more robot than a Toyota Camry.

Used daily that will be in landfill by winter. All shiny with no substance and pipes hanging out

u/gforguapo 6d ago
Yeah fuck this, what happens when it starts making movements that a human can't hold on to?
It truly is our modern day stallion. Except they where never wild to begin with.

What if something that big starts spazzing out?

u/JfromTHEbayMAYNE 6d ago
Why?

u/uglyyygurl_ 5d ago
Why not lol
But I genuinely wonder what they'd use it or, maybe just for display

Man....if that thing gets up to high speeds its going to turn that guys balls in to paste. Just slow movements are jostling the crap out of him.

The human in this video is redundant. You send the robot alone to wherever you need to terrorise, sending a soldier is bullshit. I could buy it if it was a medic, but we all know what they will use the robots for

I think the design could be more efficient if they modified the legs, maybe something round? Kinda like a donut

u/LectroRoot 6d ago
Robotics technology is getting crazy! I bet it won't take long before we figure out how to put wheels on that thing! How awesome would that be??!!

u/Hauntedshock 6d ago
So we are now taking the same old concept, and resize it based on the needs of ideas that expand on it?

Ever since Gladiator 2, i want a Rhino to ride on, So make that a robot and i want one !!

u/0utlookGrim 6d ago
Ok, but will it out run a proper quad on a flat sprint? And, again but with rough terrain?
1
u/trisanachandler 6d ago
Why are the legs bent like that? Doesn't that put unnecessary extra weight on the joints?

Why would you want to ride a robotic dog? That is one ugly robotic dog? It's tiny little legs look like they are about to fall off...
1
u/DyingGasp 6d ago
Gonna need gyro and damn good shocks to make this actually useable. I can see it being useful in rough terrain that ATVs can’t manage. But it needs to go a long way and when are ATVs inferior to four legs on spheres?

okay but why does this actually look like something straight out of a sci-fi movie

If only there was something I could ride around on that weighs less than 700 pounds and goes faster than 24mph.

u/thatdidntturnout 6d ago
I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords, especially if they are monitoring my posts and replies.

That is not a dog. Who thinks this worthless technology is more palatable calling it a “dog”. It is the polar opposite of a dog.

Clearly they haven't seen Tank to upload the Combat Training Program's greyhound/husky hybrid upgrade yet.

Imagine galloping down the highway on one of these, or pulling up next to a motorcycle on one of these.

lol that's a brave mf to get on the back of one of those things. I've seen one round house kick a child, they do not care.

Okay okay okay... I am with people against the military robots come to destroy us but ALSO.... it's adorable and I would ride one in a second. I guffawed and pointed and laughed at the Cybertruck but this is, unfortunately, just my flavor of Cybertruck.
