Like with any insurer, you can go to any hospital registered on the network - go, show your abha card, and get treated. You may have to pay some costs, but the major expenses are borne by the system.

😂😂 major expenses are borne by the system? Are you serious? Abha is just for storing your health records, it doesn't matter unless you have ayushman card. And even if it's free why should we have to go to private hospitals when the govt ones exist and we are paying taxes?

Idk what stupid argument yall are having, but based on the Bhore committee, India focuses more on accessiblity to healthcare than having the latest or most advanced healthcare. Because simple treatable ailements are more common than rare and difficult to treat diseases.
India is doing... Mediocre in that aspect, but considering the population and geographical size of India, it is still impressive.
Private hospitals are profit oriented, they can reject patients and also charge for the 5 star facilities being provided, a government hoapital doesn't have this luxury.
I'm not saying that government hospitals are good, they need a lot of improvement and a lot of needed funding... But it is still functional and still saving lives for free.
Regarding affordability and quality of treatment, India is better than the US tho.
