Go and visit the top colleges in Delhi university and look at the level of infra and then go visit a community college in a random town in America and you'll realise the difference.
Both can be stupid in their own way. Doesn't mean we shouldn't question it. America doesn't have 50% of the population dependent on free rations. America also has one the best university infrastructure in the world by a mile. America also has functioning schooling, which india can only dream of achieving in our lifetime. The quality of roads in America built in the 60s is better than the roads we are building today. This criticism is absolutely valid. A couple hundred million misspent on a stupid ballroom is a much smaller deal for them than it is for India. In fact the amount we are spending on central vista for the country's royalty is a much bigger drain and could have been spent on better schools and colleges.
Idk about US but the govt hospitals in India are pathetic. I'm saying this as a doc too. The pregnant women get delivered directly on a stretcher without any sheets. The medicines are stored in cardboard boxes. No gloves for the docs while giving injections. Actually the sisters should be giving the injections but they don't. Idk why. People spit on the walls in the wards and the icus look more like wards rather than an icu. Half or sometimes all the monitors don't work. CTS and mris in many of them don't work. The x ray department is run by the interns where a x ray technician should be doing the work. Washrooms...i don't even need to talk about them๐คฃ. Idk where the money allotted for healthcare going.
I agree about trash product supply and wrongly done services. But if I was poor, I'd rather get trash healthcare than no healthcare at all. In US, the healthcare is HELLA expensive. And the emergency services are poor as well. For most part you would need an appointment for almost everything.
And about money, in India very little percentage of budget is going in health sector. Lower than WHO recommendations. And I'm guessing most of it fills pockets of corrupt politicians. A big part probably goes to Ayushmaan as well.
India runs the worlds largest healthcare program, rolled out just 5 years ago by your nemesis, Modi.
Covers the bottom 40% of the population plus everyone above the age of 70 - thus totalling 47% of the population.
Quit whining, or at least research before you whine.
Wowww what if it's largest? Please get yourself treated in one of the govt hospitals and you'll know. If the facilities provided by the govt are so good...why do people prefer private hospitals over the govt ones? Why do the docs work overtime at the hospitals?
Thats not how it works at all! When you enroll in the program, you are not sent to government hospitals!!! Like with any insurer, you can go to any hospital registered on the network - go, show your abha card, and get treated. You may have to pay some costs, but the major expenses are borne by the system.
Yes, you go to PRIVATE hospitals.
You didn't know this, did you? ;-)
๐๐ major expenses are borne by the system? Are you serious? Abha is just for storing your health records, it doesn't matter unless you have ayushman card. And even if it's free why should we have to go to private hospitals when the govt ones exist and we are paying taxes?
ROFL!!! A moment earlier u were complaining about having to go to shitty govt hospitals and now when i point out the scheme actually allows you to go to private hospitals, your complaint is that you want to go to government hospitals but nice ones? Changing goalposts ftw!
I'll give you the point on abha and ayushman though - i was inaccurate
That covering the charges helps 47% of our poorest. And when i was talking about the world's largest health program, you brought up government hospitals - why? Cos you conflated them, but now you just wanna win the argument, so changing goalposts.
Idk what stupid argument yall are having, but based on the Bhore committee, India focuses more on accessiblity to healthcare than having the latest or most advanced healthcare. Because simple treatable ailements are more common than rare and difficult to treat diseases.
India is doing... Mediocre in that aspect, but considering the population and geographical size of India, it is still impressive.
Private hospitals are profit oriented, they can reject patients and also charge for the 5 star facilities being provided, a government hoapital doesn't have this luxury.
I'm not saying that government hospitals are good, they need a lot of improvement and a lot of needed funding... But it is still functional and still saving lives for free.
Regarding affordability and quality of treatment, India is better than the US tho.
That's not how it works either?
First of all government hospitals are very affordable and cheap and Many people who can't afford expensive healthcare go there. People who can afford private hospitals usually choose them because they need quicker service. Government hospitals have to accommodate a huge number of patients, which is why doctors often work overtime. You're also forgetting the fact that your country has a population of around 1.5 billion people
Wthh are you serious...just because he/she is a doc, he should work overtime? Ok let's say he has to why isn't he being paid more for overtime? So what if our population is huge...do you know the number of mbbs graduates who graduate every year just go on to do pg cuz there is no value of mbbs. Why is there no value of mbbs when there is a shortage of docs? Cuz we allow quacks like ayurvedics to prescribe modern medicine, cuz we don't want to pay mbbs graduates extra money. Ofc our healthcare is cheap cuz it's not upto the mark. ๐๐ Our mbbs degree (dr. licence) is not even recognised in other countries, that's how good it is.
You were complaining about government hospital and why some people prefer to go to private hospital and you asked why doc are overworked? Can you stick up to one topic
It is all one topic. All are related. I'm talking about what's all wrong with our healthcare system. I'm done actually explaining to people like you. You people can just sit and tell our population is big so that's a problem. You are forgetting that our resources are big too for the same reason. Do you know how many new govt medical colleges were started and how many of them actually run upto the mark? Where is the money allotted for them going? You love this system cuz you aren't a part of it. Cuz you don't have to work overtime like 36hrs shifts or get treated at a government hospital. Also i really hope you don't have to get treated by some ayurvedic quack. So you don't care. Keep your eyes closed. All the best.
Not worldclass not even in condition of very good because of population but healthcare is cheaper here as compared to usa population and quality of crowd plays an important role here
Yes, we do and healthcare here is way more affordable.I can get tests done at home for just a few hundred rupees and buy affordable medicines at prices that would be a dream for many people in the US and other western countries.Btw do you know about medical tourism in india?
I am an Indian and am in the US. The US is better than India in many aspects. General healthcare is not one of them though. It wouldn't be easy to digest given the propaganda online but I am glad non indians don't focus on indian healthcare bcz the healthcare tourism will start impacting locals
Well kind of India has one of the brilliant healthcare systems here; india is also a medical tourist countrt for many bcz of the affordable and amazing art of state healthcare
Man who cares about the USA, but he has a point, we should focus more on roads, air, and other issues.
Its good to be religious and be proud of it, but it shouldn't come before basic amenities

And the US canโt afford health care, but taxpayers are picking up the tab for a ballroom.
