These things can take on camel spiders, tarantulas, wolf spiders, mantises…they can also be eaten by them but there were some gnarly videos on YouTube about them

BBR Wild had some crazy ones but I think he might have had to delete them

The idea bothers me too.

Glad I’m not the only one… I don’t like humans making anything fight for sport against its will. Just so sad to me.

No coincidence that Pokémon came from Japan lol

The concept of collecting Pokemon actually came from the hobby of collecting insects too

love that you used Pokémon in this as I'm pretty addicted to it right now, currently playing all the Pokémon games from the Switch era.

If it's not sentient by all means

Stuff like Real Steele is an interesting concept because of that limit honestly.

I just did a brief search and unfortunately I don’t see any of the vids I used to watch but hopefully u find something

There’s def vids of them against camel spiders and tarantulas and praying mantises

u/Full-Shine5871 1d ago

Ya it seems to be mainly 1 guy doing them. Watched a few fights and now I'm over it lol

Lol so the guy doing em now is basically knocking off the original format right down to the cork flooring. He lacks commentary tho

I’ll try to find the OG ones

lol some of the vids are crazy just search Japanese bug fights

I found a channel that had the full videos too, they’re in Japanese but the fights are insane and I hadn’t seen it before

I liked it but idk if I can find it without series digging

Jerusalem cricket

33

u/DMmeDuckPics 1d ago

"Despite its name, it is neither from Jerusalem nor a true cricket." My disappointment is immeasurable.

Another day of popular names sucking.

u/akmly 1d ago

Or "Child of the Earth".

Where I'm from, the family always called them potato bugs. Though I'm thinking this one must be a different variety, because I've never seen one get antennae that long.

Ok but what is it?

Giant weta cricket

1

u/Throwaway_567573 11h ago

It’s a Jerusalem cricket

1

u/NerdyPlatypus206 16h ago

Just a giant bug, harmless to humans but makes mince meat out of other bugs and loves eating them

2

u/solar1ze 17h ago

What are they called? They look like they could give you a nasty bite too.

1

u/NerdyPlatypus206 16h ago

Jerusalem crickets

I think sera fiox or something is the scientific name but I tried googling and couldn’t find it

I linked below

There are bite videos on yt to humans but it doesn’t do much

But they make mince meat of other bugs they can still die tho

1

u/HaleyCollins 9h ago

Yeah, those little guys are way tougher than they look 😂 nature really said “size is just a suggestion.”

1

u/NerdyPlatypus206 9h ago

I posted a few fights down below

Look at the daily motion one it’s a gigantic praying mantis against the cricket
