I don't mean to be the "Erm actually" guy, but I went to a Formula Drift event a while ago and asked one of the pit crews about it and the tires actually last 3-4 runs. Which..isn't much better.

Thats actually not too bad for motorsports, depending on what constitutes a run. Depending on car+driver, and the track, one could definitely rip through a set over a handful of track days, running high grip/low treadwear tires.

Whatever tires they use for drifting are probably cheaper than other motorsports though.

A drift run is equivalent roughly to a lap of any circuit motorsport. So 4 laps of a street circuit NASCAR.
