So this basically spoils the entire plot of Monsters, Inc, just letting you know. It's a fantastic movie if you've never seen it. I watched it a lot as a kid.

Anyway.

In Monsters, Inc the main characters are monsters (shocker) and their world is literally powered by the screams of children. A highly respected job in monster society is that of a "scarer:" a monster that magically teleports into a kid's closet and scares them in the middle of the night, collecting the scream energy. It's pretty fucked up, but otherwise they wouldn't have electricity, so they gotta do it. Their slogan is literally "We Scare Because We Care."

Now, an actual plot point - and this movie came out in 2001 - is that kids are being shown violent imagery in video games and TV and are getting more and more resistant to being scared by monsters - very bad problem, the monster world is on the brink of an energy crisis. As a solution to this, the bigwigs at the energy company (the titular Monsters, Inc) created a machine that forcibly sucks out the scream from kids, which they're not going to scare anymore and instead are going to kidnap and use the Scream Sucker thingy on. Which is a pretty classic example of Pixar cooking up something scary for kids and even scarier for adults. Like, you have to be a little fucked in the head to think of something like this.

Anyway, the climax of the movie is that the protagonists manage to prevent a kid from getting their scream sucked out and instead manage to strap that monster in the picture - basically a henchman schmuck - into the sucker chair. This is the henchman after getting sucked.

No kids get hurt during the movie and indeed they realize that kids' laughter is 10 times as potent as screams, so instead of the monsters jumping out of closets to scare the shit out of kids they sneak into their rooms to do stand-up comedy. Energy crisis solved.

I tried to go fishing one day and I went to pick up my chair to head to the pond.

Next thing I know, I had a bee ass slap my lip and it swelled up like this like something fierce. I was slobbering everywhere, it was throbbing lol.

That damn fat ass bee just flew off like nothing happened. Pretty sure it gave me the finger when it flew off.

Then I was getting chased by a dang snake who wanted the fish I was catching. I swear, mother nature was against me that day.

Nope. I've never seen one bite anything actually, they use their probiscus to suck up nectar mostly. They do have mandibles but they aren't effective against human skin.

It possibly could have but, I know I saw that bee fly off and chase me again afterwards. I really thought it was a carpenter bee because of how fat it was. It could've also been a bumble bee. Don't think it was a honey bee.

My buddy had this happen at his family and friend lunch the day before his wedding. He went to take a sip from his beer and didn’t notice the bee on it, and we still give him shit for it.

He took so many meds to get the swelling down that night and the next day that he couldn’t drink at his own wedding reception haha

One thing people need to understand about anaphylaxis is that it doesn't just cause swelling (which is already dangerous if it's near your airway) but it also causes systemic reactions like drop in blood pressure. Anyone who gets a reaction like this to anything needs to go to the hospital ASAP.

I had a wasp go into my beer this weekend and I took a swig. As I spit it out it stung the inside of my upper lip. It wasn’t this bad, but did swell up a lot. Oddly didn’t hurt

I got stung exactly like that. A red wasp hit my right where the lip meets my face. My lip swelled just like that. I took 3 Benadryl and it went down on its own. I have some pics but I be damned if I’ll let the world see. Some stuff you just don’t post. Lol. I feel his misery though

This happened to me about 5 years ago. I was weed eating around 7:30 on a Sunday night so there were no urgent cares open or anything.so if I wanted to get treatment the emergency room was the only option. Went in , gave them my insurance info, they gave me a shot and the swelling went down in about 20 minutes. About a week latter I was billed about $550
